Job description

POSITION PURPOSE
Coordinates the training and daily activities for central pharmacy operations and pharmacy technician activities. Coordinates with fellow pharmacy management on optimal pharmacy workflow and performance.
SITE(S)
Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital and related clinics
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED
Bachelor's degree.
Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Healthcare Administration or a related field preferred.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
A minimum of 4 years' experience in Hospital Pharmacy required.
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Wisconsin pharmacy technician license is required.
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential required.
SUPERVISES
Pharmacy Technicians
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
  • Strong knowledge of drug names, dosage, strengths, formulations and directions for use
  • Strong computer-related skills, including Microsoft Office suite and electronic health record.
  • Analytical skills necessary to evaluate problems, arrange appropriate service or develop plans and procedures to achieve resolution, ensure completion, and evaluate effectiveness of the problem resolution.
  • Independent judgment necessary to work in accordance with departmental practices and general directives received from the Director. Demonstrates effective and efficient organization and time management skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities, including but not limited to positively influencing pharmacy staff and working with a variety of diverse people including nurses, management/leadership, and other hospital personnel. Ability to think conceptually and translate broad organizational issues to the daily operational level.
  • Excellent communication skills which frequently involve collaborating with management/leadership and other hospital personnel.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Coordinates the daily activities for pharmacy operations of pharmacy technicians on all shifts.
  • Coordinates pharmacy technician training in collaboration with the Pharmacy Sterile Products team.
  • Coordinates Pharmacy Department services, regulatory compliance, quality and performance improvement activities.
  • Evaluates work performance of pharmacy technicians.
