Job description

Psychiatrist - Adult

This is a non-union part-time (30 hours/week) position in the Mental Health Department (Classification 776). This position is open until filled. First review of applications will be on April 20, 2026. Any applications received after April 20 will be reviewed and considered as needed, and this posting may close at any time after that date. Linn County requires on-site work. Remote work is not available.

This is a part-time position performing outpatient psychiatric services for adults with a variety of developmental, behavioral, addiction and mental health issues.

Job Summary

Provide psychiatric assessments with differential diagnoses, ability to prescribe and supervise medication management clients, and collaborate with the treatment team for treatment interventions. Provide psychiatric consultation to local physicians and develop working relationships to easily transition clients back to PCP care. Review and approve client treatment plans. Formal clinical supervision, to include psychiatric residents, as assigned by the Program Manager. Supervision of Psychiatric Nurses and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners will be performed through the use of standing orders. Assign responsibilities, provide direction, advise and consult on problems and interpretations of laws and regulations; participate in the selection of new personnel and assign duties, and provide training. Essential functions include performing psychiatric evaluations including a differential diagnosis, collaborating in the development of individual habilitation and/or treatment plans, performing "physician sign-off" on individual habilitation and/or treatment plans, prescribing psychiatric medications and collaborating with case management and nursing staff to facilitate appropriate medication monitoring, providing psychiatric consultation and medical supervision, providing psychiatric consultation to allied community agencies with an emphasis on the primary care physician, and performing court appointed examinations for civil commitments hearings.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience, education and training: Medical degree plus successful completion of a residency program in psychiatry. Board certification in psychiatry is desirable although not required. Professional experience with diverse clinical populations is preferred. Must be able to pass a criminal history check and possess or obtain a valid Oregon driver's license with an acceptable driving record that meets the County's requirements.
