Job description

Position Summary:

This is a grant funded lab manager position to support plantconservation genetic research.ย The position requires in-depth knowledge of Next Generation DNA sequencing techniques (DNA extraction, PCR, restriction digests, sample submission), bioinformatic genetic data analyses, native plant identification, and trend monitoring of plant demographics. The incumbent needs to be well trained and able to think creatively to solve unexpected challenges.

Job Duties:

  • 40% Next Generation DNA sequencing associated lab work,including genetic data analyses
  • 30% Rare plant monitoring fieldwork. Includes substantialsummer travel to field sites in Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, and Wyoming
  • 30% Report and manuscript writing

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Botany, Biology, orrelated science discipline required;ย MS in Botany, Biology, or related science discipline preferred
  • Experience managing researchprojects funded by federal land management agencies.
  • Experience writing plantconservation management documents.
  • Knowledge of the Colorado flora.
  • Abilityto write simple computer or R code.
