Estimator / Project Manager – Heavy Civil Renewable Energy

Location: St. Michael, MN
Compensation: $100,000 – $140,000 (salary, based on experience)
Employment Type: Full-Time

Overview

A well-established Midwest-based heavy civil contractor is seeking an experienced Estimator / Project Manager to support renewable energy projects across the region. This role focuses on civil scopes for solar, wind, and energy storage developments and offers long-term stability, strong benefits, and the opportunity to work on high-visibility infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Estimate and manage heavy civil scopes for renewable energy projects (solar, wind, battery storage, etc.)
  • Prepare detailed takeoffs and cost estimates for civil construction work
  • Manage project cost accounting, including:
    • Daily/weekly cost tracking
    • Change orders
    • Monthly cost projections
    • Project billing and invoicing
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, field staff, subcontractors, and internal teams
  • Maintain complete and accurate project and estimating files
  • Attend and lead project meetings as needed
  • Coordinate and direct field personnel
  • Support and mentor junior estimators/project managers and seasonal interns
  • Assist with client relationship management and business development efforts
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in civil or related construction (renewable energy experience a plus)
  • College degree preferred, but not required
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proven ability to lead under demanding conditions
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Self-starter with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
  • Positive, dependable, and team-oriented mindset
  • Light regional travel required
