Familiarity with automation tools like Zapier, Microsoft Power Automate, or UiPath, as well as relevant certifications, is typically required. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and self-management skills distinguish top performers in remote environments. These competencies enable efficient process streamlining, effective team collaboration, and successful automation project delivery from any location.

What are some common challenges faced when managing workflow automation remotely, and how can they be addressed?

One common challenge in remote workflow automation roles is ensuring seamless communication and coordination across distributed teams, especially when automating processes that involve multiple departments. Job description

Description

Forgent Power Solutions is building AI-enabled workflows across its core business functions - commercial, operations, finance, engineering, and more. We're hiring a Solutions Architect, Workflow Automation to take messy, manual business processes and turn them into working digital solutions that are faster, more accurate, and actually used by the people doing the work. You'll use workflow automation, AI agents, system integrations, and human review touchpoints to get there. This is a hands-on solutions architecture role.

The right candidate can map a business process, design the solution architecture, build the MVP, and partner with IT to scale it.

This role sits at the intersection of process design, solution architecture, and technical build. You'll assess workflows, decide what should be automated, AI-assisted, integrated, or kept human, build the MVP, and partner with IT to harden and scale successful solutions.

This is a remote position; however, the selected candidate must reside in the U.S.

Key Responsibilities

Assess and map business processes end-to-end. Identify what should be automated, AI-assisted, integrated, or kept human.

Design solution architecture for AI-enabled workflows, including workflow logic, system touchpoints, data inputs, rules-based automation, AI agents, human review, escalation paths, and feedback loops.

Build MVPs using workflow automation platforms, AI agent workflows, APIs, integrations, and lightweight custom logic where needed.

Build human-in-the-loop review systems with clear escalation, logging, approvals, and feedback capture.

Partner with IT, data, and security teams to harden, secure, monitor, support, and scale successful MVPs.

Own delivery through a structured sprint methodology, from business alignment and scoping through MVP launch and post-launch improvement.

Monitor live workflows, analyze exception patterns, and improve rules, integrations, workflow logic, and agent behavior.

Work directly with business process owners and subject matter experts. Iterate on real user feedback.

Document what works and what doesn't so the approach is repeatable and systems are maintainable.

Required Qualifications

5-8 years in solution architecture, workflow automation, process engineering, software engineering, systems integration, or adjacent roles.

Experience mapping business processes and designing workflows that combine automation, systems, data, business rules, AI assistance, and human review.

Working experience with AI agents, LLM-powered workflows, or AI-assisted business processes.

Ability to communicate across organizational levels, including business users, executives, IT, data teams, and implementation partners.

Integration skills, including the ability to work with data from multiple systems.

Ability to think architecturally while still being hands-on enough to build MVPs, prototypes, automations, or lightweight tools.

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, business, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Manufacturing, industrial, commercial, finance, engineering, or operations experience preferred.

Experience with Microsoft-based automation and AI tools, including Power Platform, Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, or Azure OpenAI.

Preferred experience with Anthropic Claude.

Python, SQL, or scripting fluency for data manipulation, APIs, workflow logic, and custom logic.

Experience working alongside IT, data, security, implementation partners, or consultants on shared delivery.

Familiarity with AI governance, security, permissions, logging, monitoring, and responsible AI practices.
