We are looking for System Engineer - Vulnerability/Automation - Remote for our client in Remote.

Job Title: System Engineer - Vulnerability/Automation

Job Location: Remote

Job Type: Contract

Job Overview:

Requirement/Must Have:

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1+ years of proven experience in large-scale deployment and support of Windows Server and Linux Server environments.
  • Expertise in DevOps practices, including version control with Git repositories.
  • Hands-on experience authoring automation scripts (preferably with Ansible, but other tools will be considered).
  • Demonstrated capability in vulnerability remediation and enterprise OS patching.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting skills with a focus on system stability, performance, and compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute infrastructure vulnerability remediation for Windows and Linux servers, ensuring alignment with enterprise security standards.
  • Plan, coordinate, and support automated operating system patching across production and non-production environments with minimal downtime.
  • Collaborate with application teams, risk management, and IT stakeholders to validate systems before and after patching activities.
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies such as daily standups, backlog refinement, and peer reviews to prioritize remediation efforts and deliver results on schedule.
  • Support Change Management processes, including contributing to change requests, obtaining approvals, and documenting risks associated with patching initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to patching or remediation that impact system stability, performance, and compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement by contributing to infrastructure automation and patching process enhancements, engaging with DevOps and automation communities of practice.
  • Ensure infrastructure compliance with internal security policies by proactively addressing vulnerabilities across diverse enterprise environments.
  • Communicate patching schedules, expectations, and validation requirements effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Mentor and collaborate with peers within Infrastructure Vulnerability DevOps teams to maintain secure, highly available systems.
  • Maintain proficient working knowledge of key tools, including Confluence, Jira, and Git.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with AI and MCP servers is highly desirable.
  • Background in system integration projects.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow for change management processes.
  • Experience working in Agile environments.
  • Previous exposure to infrastructure communities of practice is an advantage.

Skills:

  • Solid experience with tools such as Git, VS Code, Windsurf AI, and Copilot.
