Senior Windows Systems Engineer Location: Raleigh, NC (Onsite) Employment Type: Full-Time Level: Senior Overview We are seeking a Senior Windows Systems Engineer to join a team responsible for the design, implementation, administration, and support of enterprise infrastructure technologies across a complex IT environment. This role is ideal for an experienced infrastructure professional with strong systems engineering and troubleshooting expertise who enjoys designing scalable solutions, supporting critical business platforms, and driving technical excellence. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with strong communication skills, sound technical judgment, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with other IT professionals. Key Responsibilities Design, deploy, and support enterprise Windows Server environments. Develop and maintain enterprise infrastructure services including Active Directory, Group Policy, and other core Microsoft technologies. Manage and support enterprise file services, permissions structures, access controls, DFS, and data governance initiatives. Administer and enhance Microsoft SharePoint environments, including security, configuration, and integration efforts. Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Microsoft SQL Server environments. Support business-critical systems and applications hosted on Windows Server platforms. Participate in infrastructure lifecycle activities including upgrades, patching, capacity planning, modernization initiatives, and technology refresh projects. Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and operational standards. Develop support processes, operational runbooks, and knowledge-sharing resources. Serve as a senior escalation point for complex infrastructure issues. Mentor junior team members and contribute to the overall growth of the IT organization. Follow established IT governance, security, and operational best practices. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. 5+ years of hands-on Windows Server administration experience. 4+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise infrastructure solutions. Strong expertise with Active Directory administration, Group Policy management, and troubleshooting. Experience supporting modern Windows Server platforms in large-scale environments. Strong understanding of file services, permissions management, and access governance. Demonstrated success resolving complex infrastructure and systems issues. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience administering SharePoint environments. Experience supporting Microsoft SQL Server platforms. Experience with VMware or comparable virtualization technologies. Experience supporting highly available, clustered, or mission-critical server environments. Additional Skills and Experience Knowledge of SQL Server architecture and performance optimization. PowerShell scripting and automation experience. Experience supporting enterprise storage technologies. Exposure to highly regulated, security-focused, or large-scale environments.
