Job Description:

Disney Consumer Products is seeking a Senior Product Designer that will be responsible for the day-to-day execution of product design and development of Lucas, Marvel & 20th Century licensed products for Adult apparel from concept through production working with internal teams and licensees. You will collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure the highest quality, consumer focused, trend-right product lines across all channels of distribution.

The role is full time and will sit onsite in Glendale, CA (or San Francisco, CA) reporting to the Mgr-Product Design.

Responsibilities/You will:

  • End-to-End Product Management. Oversee the entire product design and development lifecycle-from initial concept, research, and 2D graphics/storytelling to strike-offs, prototypes, and final production. Ensure all product lines feature market-leading innovation and strong price/value alignment for each tier of the value pyramid.

  • Lead product and licensed packaging approvals through online systems and collaborative meetings, providing detailed feedback and creative direction to external licensees.

  • Maintain high quality standards in character execution, in-depth storytelling, color, material, form, and function while maximizing profitability.

  • Research seasonal trends by category and monitor competitors, market dynamics, and product innovations to deliver trend-right, consumer-centric product lines.

  • Develop and design product mock-ups and layout creative presentations, POV boards, licensee & retailer rollouts, retail & new brand pitch decks, joint business planning presentations, studio swing support, and visual merchandising displays.

  • Onboard new partners and establish strong relationships with licensees, vendors, and internal teams, managing all creative aspects of product development.

  • Contribute to the curation and visual merchandising of the Product Development Lab, showcasing key collections that strategically support and drive excitement around major tentpole content releases.

  • Partner with a vast network of internal and external stakeholders to design and approve products, including: Creative Design, Licensing Commercialization, Global Product Design, BERGs, CBM, Legal, Business Affairs, Product Integrity, Integrated Retail, BPM, Public Affairs, D&I teams, and Cultural Consultants (Internal). Studios & Disney Channel Content Providers, Games, Publishing, WDI, Licensees, and DTR Partners (External).

  • Successfully multi-task and manage multiple design projects under tight deadlines, with the flexibility to quickly pivot and reprioritize as business needs shift.

Required Qualifications/You will have:

  • 4+ years of related experience in product development, fashion design, or merchandising, specifically within the Adult Apparel category (Softlines).

  • Solid understanding of apparel construction, fabrication, sketching, and graphics/print techniques, including the creative manipulation of art, fabrics, and trims.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with excellent verbal and written communication.

  • Proven experience multi-tasking and prioritizing multiple design projects within deadline

  • Strong computer software skills (e.g. MS Office, Keynote for deck creation) and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) for creating mock-ups and presentations, as well as experience navigating online product approval workflow systems (e.g., OPA or similar PLM software).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge/passion for TWDC franchises such as Lucasfilm, Marvel & 20th Century

  • Experience with full product design lifecycle including working with licensed consumer products

  • Experience with the full Lifecyle of a product all the way through product approvals

  • Exposure working with external Licensees and Vendors for feedback, reviews, approvals and more. Experience providing clear, actionable feedback to our partners (internal and external)

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field (e.g., industrial design, toy design, graphic design, fashion design, interior design) or equivalent work experience.

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $95,500.00 to $128,000.00 per year and for San Francisco, CA is $102,000.00 to $140,300.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
