Job description

Sophia Faculty provide high quality intervention to Sophia learners in their area of expertise. Provides coaching and mentoring to students, approaching student challenges with empathy and competence. Develops remediation materials, hosts group and individualized sessions with students. Proactively engages with learners who are struggling in real-time with targeted resources.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop a library of written and video resources to remediate concepts for struggling learners.
  • Analyze data to identify areas of struggle
  • Proactively contact learners who are struggling to recommend resources aligned to areas of struggle
  • Tutor students individually and in groups
  • Respond quickly and thoroughly to student inquiries and requests for assistance.
  • Ensure that teaching methods are varied and informed by the latest research and best practices.
  • As volume requires, manage part time tutors to leverage consistent protocol and resource development.

Work Experience:
  • At least 3 years of successful experience teaching adult and/or nontraditional students at the college level required.

Education:
  • Masters level degree in discipline, professional certification in discipline specialty, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A terminal degree (e/.g. PhD), or work towards a terminal degree, is preferred.

Other:
  • Travel may involve plane, car or metro is not required to perform this job.
  • Access to work in setting which enables meeting all requirements of the role (including privacy, reliable internet access, phone, ability to video conference, etc.) at a remote location.

$25.00-$29.00/hr is the expected starting pay for this position. This offer is based on current budgetary guidelines and the additional factors outlined below.
