Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough evaluations to assess the symptoms, duration, and severity of mood disorders in clients utilizing evidence-based assessment tools.
• Develop and implement tailored treatment plans in collaboration with clients, ensuring alignment with their personal goals and preferences.
• Utilize therapeutic interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to facilitate client progress.
• Provide education and support to clients and their families regarding mood disorders, treatment options, and self-care practices.
• Monitor client progress through regular reviews and modify treatment strategies as needed to ensure effectiveness.
• Work in tandem with psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to provide integrated care, optimizing treatment outcomes for clients.
• Engage in continuous learning and stay updated on the latest research and interventions in the field of mood disorders.
• Maintain confidential records in compliance with legal and ethical standards, ensuring the highest level of integrity in client care.
• Participate in professional development activities, including case consultations and team meetings to enhance clinical skills.
• Actively advocate for clients' mental health needs within the community and strive to reduce stigma associated with mental health issues.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The LMFT will work primarily with clients affected by mood disorders, including individuals from diverse backgrounds such as homeless individuals, refugees, and victims of domestic violence. The therapist will play a crucial role in providing tailored support in a culturally sensitive manner, ensuring that care is accessible and relevant to the varied experiences of our clients.

Qualifications

• A current, active state license as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) is required.
• Possession of a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated capability to establish a secure and trusting therapeutic relationship through strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Exhibit empathy, a nonjudgmental mindset, and an understanding of client struggles and experiences.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills to effectively oversee a caseload and manage documentation.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in working with diverse populations and specialized communities such as refugees or survivors of trauma.
• Proven proficiency in utilizing various therapeutic methodologies to address mood disorders.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems to streamline administrative tasks and client communication.
