• Conduct thorough assessments and diagnosis of patients, utilizing tools such as the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders to establish personalized care plans.
• Regularly evaluate patient progress and implement evidence-based interventions tailored to each individual’s needs.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient records and treatment details in compliance with regulatory standards and departmental procedures.
• Collaborate with patients, their families, and healthcare teams to design comprehensive treatment plans that address specific goals and cultural considerations.
• Develop educational resources and guidance for patients regarding mental health challenges, especially in relation to coping with cancer diagnosis.
• Oversee referral processes, connecting patients to other treatment providers, and maintaining strong professional relationships with local healthcare agencies.
• Provide mentorship and supervision to students, interns, and volunteers interested in gaining experience in the mental health field.
• Engage in clinical peer reviews, audits, and coaching sessions to promote team development and ensure care quality.

This position focuses on individuals and families grappling with the psychological impact of cancer. The clinician will employ a trauma-informed approach catered specifically to the emotional and mental health challenges peculiar to this patient demographic, ensuring that cultural diversity and unique needs are factored into all aspects of care.

• A Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
• A valid and active state license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Virginia.
• Proficiency in the latest mental health practices and evidence-based methodologies.

While not mandatory, candidates with previous experience working with oncology patients, understanding of medical social work, and familiarity with teletherapy platforms will be favored. Knowledge of community resources available for cancer support will also be beneficial.

The annual salary for this position ranges from USD 90,000 to USD 105,000, complemented by a competitive benefits package that includes:
