Job description

Vice President, Medical Imaging - US - Remote

ICON is a global healthcare intelligence and clinical research organisation united by a mission to bring new medicines and treatments to patients faster.

As a values-driven organisation, integrity, collaboration, agility, and inclusion are at the heart of how we work and interact with each other, customers, patients and suppliers.

Our ‘Own It’ culture is driven by four key values that bring us together as individuals and set us apart as an organisation: Accountability & Delivery, Collaboration, Partnership, and Integrity.

We are currently seeking a Vice President, Medical Imaging to join our Medical & Scientific Affairs leadership team within ICON Medical Imaging & Cardiac Safety Services. This executive leadership role will serve as a strategic scientific, medical, and operational leader responsible for driving business growth, strengthening sponsor relationships, and advancing ICON’s position as a global partner in imaging, diagnostics, and cardiac safety solutions supporting clinical development programs.

The Vice President, Medical Imaging will engage directly with sponsors through high-level technical, scientific, and medical dialogue while providing leadership oversight across study strategy, solution development, and study delivery. This individual will partner closely with Business Development, Operations, Medical Affairs, and Executive Leadership to support commercial growth, scientific innovation, operational excellence, and long-term client partnerships.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Serve as a senior scientific, medical, and strategic leader for ICON Medical Imaging & Cardiac Safety Services, representing the organization in sponsor engagements, industry interactions, and thought leadership activities.

  • Build, expand, and strengthen executive-level sponsor relationships through technical, scientific, and medical dialogue related to study strategy, execution, and oversight of study delivery.

  • Drive sustainable business growth through strategic account development, business development support, proposal strategy, bid defense participation, and innovative client solutioning.

  • Provide expert guidance on imaging, diagnostics, cardiac safety methodologies, endpoint strategies, study design, operational feasibility, and regulatory considerations supporting global clinical development programs.

  • Partner cross-functionally with Business Development, Operations, Medical Affairs, and Executive Leadership to deliver scientifically robust, client-focused solutions and operational excellence.

  • Provide strategic oversight for study delivery, ensuring scientific integrity, quality, operational performance, risk mitigation, and client satisfaction across global programs.

  • Lead initiatives that promote innovation, scientific advancement, organizational capability building, knowledge sharing, and cross-functional best practice development.

  • Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive developments to support continued growth, differentiation, and evolution of ICON’s imaging and diagnostics capabilities.

  • Mentor and develop scientific and operational leaders while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence.

Your profile

  • PhD or MD required.

  • Significant executive leadership experience within clinical research, diagnostics, medical imaging, and/or cardiac safety environments, including experience within both large pharmaceutical organizations and Contract Research Organizations (CROs), with demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing global teams.

  • Deep expertise in diagnostics, medical imaging technologies, imaging biomarkers, centralized imaging review, cardiac safety methodologies, and imaging endpoint strategies supporting global clinical development programs.

  • Proven ability to build and expand sponsor relationships through technical, scientific, and medical dialogue spanning study strategy, execution, and oversight of study delivery.

  • Demonstrated success driving business growth through strategic account development, consultative solutioning, proposal strategy, bid defense participation, and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Strong understanding of clinical trial operations, regulatory considerations, quality requirements, and operational oversight across global studies and multiple therapeutic areas.

  • Executive presence with exceptional communication, influencing, and relationship management skills, combined with a strategic and innovative leadership approach that drives accountability, operational excellence, organizational capability development, knowledge sharing, and long-term client value.
