VP of Business Development
Job Title: VP of Business Development
Location: Remote

Overview
The Vice President of Business Development is responsible for leading the company's overall growth strategy, driving revenue generation, and overseeing all business development functions. This executive role provides strategic direction across new client acquisition, market expansion, national account management, marketing, and events to ensure a cohesive and scalable approach to growth. The VP of Business Development is a hands-on, growth-focused leader who actively identifies, develops, and closes new business opportunities while leading a high-performing team. This role works cross-functionally with Operations, Finance, and Executive Leadership to achieve aggressive growth targets while maintaining strong client relationships and brand positioning.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Growth
  • Develop and execute the company's overall business development strategy to drive revenue growth and market expansion.
  • Identify new market opportunities, strategic partnerships, and service offerings to enhance competitive positioning.
  • Establish short- and long-term growth goals aligned with company objectives.
  • Develop strategies to expand the company's market presence and increase market share through new client acquisition and strategic growth opportunities.

New Business Development
  • Identify, pursue, and develop new business opportunities that generate significant revenue growth.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified prospective clients, strategic partners, and new market opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain executive-level relationships with prospective clients and key decision-makers.
  • Proactively pursue new business through networking, industry relationships, referrals, events, strategic outreach, and other business development activities.
  • Lead the pursuit of high-value and complex opportunities from initial contact through proposal, negotiation, and close.
  • Develop and execute strategies to enter new markets, expand the company's client base, and create new revenue streams.
  • Consistently identify opportunities to increase the company's presence within existing markets while maintaining a strong focus on new business.

Revenue & Performance Management
  • Own and be accountable for overall revenue performance across new and existing business.
  • Oversee sales pipeline health, forecasting, and performance metrics across all business development functions.
  • Maintain accountability for pipeline generation and new revenue production.
  • Partner with Finance to develop pricing strategies, revenue models, and budget forecasts.

Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Business Development team, including:
    • National Sales Director(s)
    • National Account Manager(s)
    • Account Coordinator(s)
    • Marketing & Events Manager
  • Establish clear roles, expectations, and performance metrics across the team.
  • Build a high-performance, results-driven culture focused on accountability and collaboration.
  • Coach and develop the team on prospecting, relationship development, opportunity management, and closing strategies.

Sales & Account Strategy
  • Provide leadership and direction on complex sales opportunities, high-value proposals, and contract negotiations.
  • Lead and partner with the National Sales Director on the pursuit and acquisition of large national accounts and strategic partnerships.
  • Oversee account management strategy to ensure client retention, satisfaction, and revenue growth.
  • Identify opportunities to expand relationships with existing clients while maintaining a strong focus on acquiring new business.

Marketing & Brand Alignment
  • Ensure alignment between business development and marketing strategies to drive lead generation and brand awareness.
  • Oversee event and tradeshow strategy to maximize ROI and market presence.
  • Collaborate on messaging, positioning, and campaigns that support growth objectives.

Client & Industry Engagement
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with key clients and partners.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and high-level client meetings.
  • Actively build and expand the company's network of prospective clients, industry contacts, and strategic partners.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, competitive landscape, and market dynamics.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in business development, sales leadership, or related roles.
  • Proven track record of personally generating and closing significant new business and driving revenue growth.
  • Proven track record of leading high-performing teams.
  • Experience managing both new business sales and national account growth strategies.
  • Demonstrated success developing new markets, building executive-level relationships, and converting opportunities into revenue.
  • Strong executive presence with exceptional leadership, communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong prospecting, presentation, negotiation, and closing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically while executing tactically.
  • Experience in restoration, construction, franchise, or related service industries preferred.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for client engagement and industry events.
  • Comfortable operating in a highly accountable, results-driven environment with aggressive growth and revenue targets.
