This role supports the implementation and sustainment of Oracle Health solutions as part of the Department of Veterans Affairs Electronic Health Record Modernization (VA EHRM) program. Responsibilities of the S&P team supporting this program may include contributing to requirements analysis, system configuration, software development and testing, systems integration, workflow evaluation, and operational support across the solution lifecycle. Program support activities may also include IT project support, process documentation, system optimization, and coordination across technical, functional, and clinical stakeholders to ensure Oracle Health solutions are implemented effectively and aligned with VA mission, clinical, and operational needs.
Role Summary
**This specific posting requires California residency and current or recent VA clearance/access. Other current/recent federal clearance will be considered.**
The Engineering Deployment Site Practitioner supports a large-scale Oracle Health implementation as part of the VA Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) program, providing technical and infrastructure-focused support across the full deployment lifecycle. This role is responsible for leading and coordinating site-level technical discovery, assessing devices and interfaces, and supporting technical readiness activities to enable a successful transition to the new EHR. The role works closely with local site IT teams, engineering and network groups, vendors, and deployment leadership to support planning, execution, and cutover activities across VA medical centers and clinics.
Compensation and scope may vary based on experience, qualifications, and the complexity of the deployment site. Depending on assignment, this role may also provide oversight across multiple sites or deployment waves, supporting consistency of execution, risk management, and coordination of engineering resources at the program level.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and coordinate technical discovery activities at hospitals and clinics related to end-user devices (EUDs), interfaced systems, and data drops and power outlets (DDPO)
  • Analyze discovery findings and produce post-discovery documentation to inform technical scope, requirements, and gap assessments
  • Build and maintain an understanding of site-specific and standard device inventories, technical capabilities, and system interfaces to support accurate planning and deployment
  • Support device procurement tracking, inventory coordination, and site-level logistics activities
  • Serve as a primary technical point of contact with local site IT leadership and engineering, network, and infrastructure teams
  • Support technical readiness for EHR deployment activities, including cutover planning, go-live support, and post-deployment stabilization
  • Coordinate with external vendors and technology partners to support site-level engineering activities as required
  • Provide project coordination support for engineering activities, including schedule tracking, issue resolution, and status reporting
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with stakeholders to support coordination, surface risks, and resolve technical issues

Requirements
Required Experience and Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience supporting IT infrastructure, engineering, systems, or health IT deployments in complex enterprise or healthcare environments, including hospital or clinic site assessments
  • Experience supporting EHR or large-scale health IT implementations, including technical discovery, end-user devices, system interfaces, and deployment or cutover support; experience with Oracle Health (Cerner) or similar platforms is preferred
  • U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust background investigation
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clinical, operational, and technical decision makers with varying levels of expertise
  • Strong professionalism, judgment, and adaptability in fast-paced, multi-site deployment environments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Additional Details
  • This is a remote position with 50% travel to VA medical centers and clinics - location and frequency may vary by deployment phase and specific role assignment (note: assessors may travel more)
  • Salary at S&P is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this full-time salaried (W2) position is $100,000-$125,000 (annualized USD). This represents the estimated salary range for this position and is not a guarantee of compensation. This posting covers roles that may be staffed at different compensation levels based on experience, deployment site complexity, and role scope, as determined by contract requirements and prime contractor assignments.
  • Additionally, S&P's total compensation package also includes medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, 401K, holidays, and paid time off. This posting will remain open for 120 days or until filled, and multiple positions may be filled under this posting.
