SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS

JOB TITLE: Sr / Lead Accountant Energy Efficiency Programs
REQUISITION ID: ACC0026
DEPARTMENT: Corporate Accounting - Kansas City Headquarters or Topeka General Office        
LOCATION: Kansas City, MO or Topeka, KS        
PAY RANGE: Sr Accountant: $84,500-$112,600   
     Lead Accountant: $99,500-$132,600

Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Additional hours as required)

Summary:
Evergy's accounting department is looking for an experienced accountant for its energy efficiency programs.  This role performs month end close duties, prepares monthly variance analysis, prepares various internal and external reports, and supports the regulatory and rate-making process for energy efficiency programs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Accounting for energy efficiency programs
    o Includes making monthly journal entries for invoice accruals, performing calculations to record monthly activity, and account reconciliations
Budgeting and forecasting for energy efficiency programs
    o Prepare annual budget and monthly forecast for energy efficiency programs utilizing data from multiple sources
Reporting for energy efficiency programs
    o Prepare monthly actual and budget variance analysis
    o Prepare monthly reports for program costs and savings
    o Prepare quarterly and annual regulatory reports
    o Prepare rate case schedules as needed
Demand Side Investment Mechanism (DSIM) & Kansas Energy Efficiency Investment Act (KEEIA) Rider Rates
    o Calculate the DSIM tariff rates & Energy Efficiency Rider (EER) tariff rates according to regulatory requirements and deadlines
    o Provide assistance drafting testimony for the DSIM and EER rider updates
    o Respond to data requests timely & accurately
    o Communicate effectively with outside stakeholders

Education and Experience Requirements: 
Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance
Minimum 5-8 years experience in accounting or finance
Must possess advanced proficiency with Excel
Experience / knowledge in ERP systems
Preferred qualifications include utility industry experience and PeopleSoft experience

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required:
Display initiative and self-reliance
Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
Ability to interpret, troubleshoot and enhance complex excel formulas 
High level of accuracy and detail oriented 
Strong decision-making, problem solving and communication skills
Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
Ability to engage and work effectively with other departments
Ability to learn regulatory accounting and regulatory mechanisms if not already known

Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required: None

Working Conditions:  
Office environment with both in office and remote working conditions. Currently in office Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays with option to work remote Mondays and Fridays.
