As we continue to expand, we are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Billing Specialist to join our remote operations team.

Position Overview

The Billing Specialist is responsible for supporting accurate and timely billing activities for Oates Energy's residential and commercial customers. This role reviews billing information, processes account updates, researches discrepancies, and works with internal teams to help ensure billing records are accurate and complete.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with numbers, account information, spreadsheets, and computer-based billing systems. Strong analytical skills, accuracy, and the ability to resolve discrepancies are essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and review customer billing information according to established procedures
  • Review account information for completeness and accuracy before billing
  • Prepare, verify, and maintain customer billing records
  • Review utility usage and account information used in the billing process
  • Research billing discrepancies and identify potential errors
  • Make approved account and billing adjustments according to company procedures
  • Respond to billing-related questions from customers, property managers, and internal teams
  • Provide accurate explanations of billing information and account activity
  • Document billing inquiries, adjustments, and account updates accurately
  • Reconcile billing information and identify discrepancies requiring additional review
  • Coordinate with customer service, operations, accounts receivable, and other internal teams
  • Review invoices, billing reports, and account records for accuracy
  • Assist with recurring billing processes and billing-cycle activities
  • Monitor assigned billing tasks and meet established deadlines
  • Maintain organized billing records and supporting documentation
  • Protect customer financial and account information in accordance with company privacy and data-handling procedures

Qualifications
  • Previous experience in billing, accounts receivable, accounting, customer service, or a related field preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Comfortable working with numbers, financial information, and account records
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Good organizational and time-management skills
  • Comfortable using computers, email, spreadsheets, and web-based applications
