Job description

The VP – Commercial Lending and Treasury Manager at Royal Credit Union is responsible for setting the strategic direction and leadership for our commercial lending and treasury management functions; driving business loan growth, portfolio performance, deposit production, and treasury management services.

Compensation:

$160,000 - $220,000 annual salary (candidates with significant related experience may be higher)

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for commercial lending and treasury management, aligning departmental goals with Royal's mission, values, growth objectives, and risk appetite.
  • Mentor and guide direct reports; fostering a collaborative, high-performing team environment focused on professional growth, accountability, and consistent execution.
  • Lead and execute initiatives for commercial lending, treasury management, portfolio development, relationship expansion, and deposit production.
  • Collaborate with executives and department leaders to achieve commercial lending, deposit, treasury management, and relationship growth objectives while managing risk.
  • Provide leadership for commercial lending production, portfolio management, credit quality, and member relationship strategies.
  • Oversee treasury management strategy and business deposit growth, supporting consistent member service, product adoption, and relationship profitability.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, proactively identifying and mitigating risk while staying informed of regulatory and market changes.

Education/Experience/Skills

Required:

  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field
  • Ten (10) years of work experience in Commercial Lending, Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Demonstrated strategic leadership

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies (Summarized):

  • Strategic leadership & business acumen to set direction for commercial lending and treasury management, understand Royal's strategic focus, and make informed, aligned, risk-based decisions.
  • Cultivating trust & developing staff, establishing a safe, collaborative environment, setting clear expectations and performance goals, providing meaningful feedback, and building team members' skills through development and delegation.
  • Innovative mindset & adaptability, challenging the status quo, embracing change and new technology, and learning quickly in an ambiguous, complex, and constantly changing environment.
  • Regulatory and compliance expertise across business lending, credit culture, underwriting standards, and Bank Secrecy Act requirements.
  • Technology readiness, including comfort with Royal's digital solutions and a basic understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Work Schedule:

This full-time (40-hour), exempt position will be based out of our Minnesota or St. Croix Valley markets and can work remotely, after an initial onboarding period, assuming our workplace flexibility criteria are met. Working hours are generally Monday through Friday; 8:00am – 5:00pm, occasionally requiring evening and weekend hours. Travel within Royal's geographic footprint for training and meetings is required.

Training:

Prior to starting a normal work schedule, new Royal team members must attend “Foundations Training” at our Corporate Center in Eau Claire, WI from 9:00am – 4:30pm on Monday and Tuesday during their first week of employment. Out-of-town learners will be reimbursed for eligible expenses related to travel and lodging, per policy. Foundations Training is designed to quickly acclimate team members to information about Royal's culture and core values, setting the stage for success within our organization.
