Job Description:

L3Harris' Corporate Headquarters, located in Melbourne, FL, is seeking a Senior Specialist, Category Management - Freight & Logistics to join our Corporate Indirect Category Management Team. This highly visible, fast-paced, and enterprise-focused role will lead the development and execution of category strategies across Freight and Logistics for multiple programs and business stakeholders.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in transportation, freight, logistics operations, and supplier market dynamics, with a proven track record developing and implementing enterprise-wide category strategies, supplier performance models, and relationship management frameworks. You'll drive measurable value through strategic sourcing, supplier optimization, and cross-functional alignment with internal and external partners.

Strong business analytics and intelligence capabilities are essential-you excel at processing large, complex data sets and distilling insights into clear, concise executive summaries. As a strategic thinker with strong business acumen, you translate market intelligence, supplier performance data, and operational trends into actionable recommendations that inform leadership decisions across freight, logistics, facilities, and operations strategies.

Essential Functions:

  • Build, manage, and ensure execution of the enterprise-wide Freight and Logistics category strategy to achieve business objectives and deliver sustainable value across multiple programs and stakeholders.
  • Partner continuously with internal customers and functional stakeholders to understand evolving business priorities, logistics requirements, service expectations, and operational challenges.
  • Develop and implement corporate/enterprise-wide sourcing strategies, supplier performance frameworks, and governance models that align with business goals and improve service delivery, cost efficiency, and supply continuity.
  • Lead strategic sourcing initiatives across freight and logistics subcategories, which may include domestic and international transportation, parcel, warehousing, third-party logistics, expedited freight, and related logistics services.
  • Establish and manage supplier relationship management (SRM) frameworks for strategic logistics suppliers, including performance scorecards, quarterly business reviews, service-level management, continuous improvement plans, and escalation processes.
  • Build and maintain supplier performance models and key performance indicators to measure supplier effectiveness, identify trends, mitigate risk, and drive accountability across the supply base.
  • Generate market intelligence through research and analysis of transportation trends, capacity constraints, geopolitical and economic factors, fuel impacts, pricing movements, emerging technologies, and leading industry practices.
  • Apply advanced analytics and business intelligence capabilities to evaluate large, complex data sets and distill findings into actionable insights and concise executive summaries that support enterprise decision-making across freight, logistics, facilities, and operations strategies.
  • Leverage performance targets tied to enterprise-wide and category-specific strategic goals to monitor results and identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Drive cost savings and cost avoidance through strategic negotiations, network optimization, supplier consolidation, demand management, long-term agreements, and other value creation levers.
  • Lead negotiations with strategic and preferred suppliers to optimize commercial terms, service levels, and enterprise value across L3Harris and its affiliates.
  • Support development and execution of multi-year category roadmaps and advise sourcing and procurement teams on implementation strategies and supplier engagement approaches.
  • Develop contractual documentation, including Master Service Agreements, Statements of Work, Enterprise Agreements, and other commercial documents, in accordance with established policies and procedures while minimizing contractual risk.
  • Assess supplier risks and business continuity considerations and develop contingency plans to support resilient logistics strategies and informed decision-making.
  • Organize and lead business reviews with key suppliers and coordinate with Segments and internal stakeholders to ensure supplier accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders to define requirements, align strategies, influence demand, and support enterprise adoption of category initiatives.
  • Leverage advanced procurement and analytics tools such as cost modeling, scenario planning, benchmarking, and performance dashboards to enhance category strategy development and execution.
  • Support regular communications with supply chain leadership and cross-functional teams regarding category strategy, supplier performance, market conditions, risks, and opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's with 6 years prior experience in Aerospace & Defense (A&D) industry preferred with specific FAR/DFAR experience, Graduate Degree with 4 years prior experience in Aerospace & Defense (A&D) industry preferred with specific FAR/DFAR experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience in Aerospace & Defense (A&D) industry preferred with specific FAR/DFAR experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Demonstrated category management or sourcing experience in Freight & Logistics
  • Institute of Supply Management (ISM) certification (CPSM, CPM) or equivalent
  • ASCM CLTD certification preferred
  • Business Process Improvement Certifications (Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt)
  • Experience utilizing eSourcing tools
  • Strong interpersonal and planning skills to lead change through influencing abilities
  • Ability to own collaboration across Segments and gain executive buy-in
  • Coordinate across commodities and segments
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to present and discuss strategy and analysis

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $84,000-$156,000. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, and Vermont is $73,000-$135,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
