First American is looking to add a Title Examiner to our growing team. This position plays a key role in coordinating the resolution and completion of the title process. Primary responsibilities include searching the public records and examining titles to determine the legal condition of property title, primarily for residential properties, and creating solutions for curing title issues. Also, obtaining or summarizing recorded and legal documents, which affect the condition of title to the property. In some cases, the Title Examiner role requires gathering information and creating or revising a commitment of title before passing along to a Title Officer.

WhatYou'llDo:

  • Perform title examinations and examine the chain of title for a wide range of title matters/issues (primarily residential)
  • Analyze records, such as mortgages, liens, judgments, easements, vital statistics, and plat and map books, todetermineownership and legal restrictions and to verify legal description of property and completeness of records
  • Resolves most issues, such as missing information, incomplete,inaccurateor contradictory information contained in the title documentation
  • Review title commitments for accuracy and make necessary revisions
  • May provide underwriting interpretation within established guidelines
  • Other duties as assigned
