What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Telecom Network Provisioning Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Telecom Network Provisioning Specialist, you need a solid understanding of telecommunications networks, provisioning processes, and relevant technical knowledge, often supported by a degree in IT, networking, or telecommunications. Familiarity with industry-standard provisioning systems (such as OSS/BSS platforms), network management tools, and certifications like CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA is highly valuable. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help professionals excel in coordinating with teams and resolving issues remotely. These competencies are crucial for ensuring seamless network service activation, minimizing downtime, and maintaining high customer satisfaction in a fast-paced, distributed work environment.

What are some common challenges faced in a remote telecom network provisioning role, and how can they be addressed?

One common challenge in remote telecom network provisioning is coordinating with on-site teams and third-party vendors to ensure timely and accurate service activation. Communication delays and misaligned schedules can impact service delivery. To address this, professionals often rely on detailed project tracking tools, regular virtual meetings, and clear documentation to keep all stakeholders aligned. Additionally, troubleshooting remotely requires strong problem-solving skills and familiarity with diagnostic software, as hands-on access to physical equipment is limited.

What is remote telecom network provisioning?

Remote telecom network provisioning refers to the process of setting up, configuring, and managing telecommunications networks from a remote location. This typically involves activating new services, allocating network resources, and ensuring proper connectivity for customers without the need for on-site visits. The work is often performed by network engineers or specialists using specialized software and tools to access and manage network equipment and services securely over the internet. Remote provisioning helps telecom companies deliver faster service, reduce operational costs, and improve flexibility for both staff and customers.

Job description

Commercial Regulatory Counsel

BCM One is looking for a commercial regulatory counsel to provide practical, business-enabling legal guidance in a highly regulated and fast-moving telecom environment. In this role, you'll be the go-to advisor on FCC and telecom regulatory compliance, while also supporting commercial contracting with a strong regulatory lens. You'll partner closely with executives and cross-functional leaders to keep our operations compliant, reduce risk, and help the business scale confidently.

This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives in a fluid, entrepreneurial environment where regulations and business needs evolve in real time, and where you'll have the runway to contribute to building governance and processes that stick.

Work locations:

This is a hybrid or remote-optional position. Preference will be given to candidates based in Herndon, VA, Blue Bell, PA, or Alpharetta, GA. This position must live and be authorized to work in the United States; it is not eligible for relocation or sponsorship.

Hours:

Typically eastern business hours with flexibility for support in multiple domestic and international time zones.

Travel:

Less than 15%, primarily within the US.

What you will do:

  • Provide legal advice on telecom licensing, FCC compliance, and operational regulatory issues.
  • Lead and manage regulatory filings, comments, and responses with the FCC and other agencies; support advocacy efforts and agency interactions.
  • Monitor, interpret, and translate regulatory developments into clear, actionable guidance for internal teams.
  • Partner with product, engineering, and sales to evaluate legal regulatory risk in product development and commercialization.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements with an emphasis on regulatory provisions and risk mitigation.
  • Create and deliver training that improves compliance awareness and proactive risk management across the organization.
  • Support responses to regulatory inquiries, investigations, or enforcement matters in coordination with the general counsel and outside counsel when needed.
  • Proactively identify emerging telecom risk areas and help build governance into the business so compliance becomes part of how we operate, not just a checkbox.

What you will need:

  • JD from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in at least one U.S. state.
  • At least 3 years of telecom and FCC regulatory experience.
  • Knowledge of emerging telecom issues including STIR/SHAKEN, Know Your Customer (KYC), Robocall Mitigation Database filings, and related state rules.
  • Familiarity with evolving technologies (e.g., 5G, broadband, IoT) and their regulatory environments.
  • Experience with regulatory advocacy, industry group participation, or government agency liaison.
