How much do remote telecom circuit design jobs pay per year?

As of May 30, 2026, the average yearly pay for remote telecom circuit design in the United States is $110,795.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $83,500.00 and $132,500.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Telecom Circuit Design Engineer, and why are they important?

To excel in remote telecom circuit design, you need a solid background in electrical or telecommunications engineering, with experience in circuit analysis and network design. Familiarity with CAD tools, network simulation software, and industry standards such as SONET, DWDM, or Ethernet is typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for remote collaboration and troubleshooting. These competencies ensure accurate, efficient network designs that meet technical requirements and support reliable telecommunications infrastructure.

What are some common collaboration methods for remote telecom circuit designers working with cross-functional teams?

Remote telecom circuit designers frequently collaborate with network engineers, project managers, and field technicians using digital tools such as video conferencing, shared design platforms, and project management software. Effective communication and documentation are crucial, as designers must ensure that their circuit plans align with network requirements and are clearly understood by all stakeholders. Regular virtual meetings, collaborative troubleshooting sessions, and detailed design documentation help streamline workflows and maintain project momentum even when team members are geographically dispersed.

What is a Remote Telecom Circuit Design job?

A Remote Telecom Circuit Design job involves designing and optimizing telecommunication circuits and networks from a remote location. Professionals in this role use specialized software and engineering principles to plan, develop, and troubleshoot communication pathways such as voice, data, and video transmission lines. They collaborate with clients and technical teams to ensure reliable, high-performance connectivity, often working with fiber optics, copper lines, or wireless infrastructure. Working remotely allows them to perform these tasks without being physically present at the installation site, making use of digital tools and communication platforms.

What is the difference between Remote Telecom Circuit Design vs Remote Network Engineer?

AspectRemote Telecom Circuit DesignRemote Network Engineer
CredentialsTelecom certifications, engineering degreesNetworking certifications (CCNA, CCNP), IT degrees
Work EnvironmentDesigning telecom circuits, collaborating with telecom providersConfiguring and maintaining network infrastructure, remote troubleshooting
Industry UsageTelecom service providers, infrastructure companiesIT firms, enterprise networks, service providers
Search/Comparison IntentDesign-focused, telecom-specific rolesNetwork configuration and troubleshooting roles

Remote Telecom Circuit Design involves creating and planning telecom circuits, often requiring specialized telecom certifications and working closely with telecom providers. In contrast, Remote Network Engineers focus on configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting network systems, typically with IT networking certifications. Both roles are essential in the telecommunications and IT industries but differ in their core responsibilities and technical focus.

Job description

Opportunity Overview
Handshake is looking for skilled Ngspice users to support AI research through flexible, hourly contract work. This is not a traditional job. You'll draw on your hands-on experience with analog circuit simulation, SPICE modeling, or mixed-signal analysis to evaluate AI-generated content and provide feedback that helps AI better understand circuit design tasks and electronics workflows.
This is an ongoing, project-based opportunity you can take on alongside anything else you have going on.
Who This Is For
This is a good fit if you're an experienced Ngspice user who has worked in or around roles like:
  • Analog IC Designer or Power Electronics Engineer
  • RF Engineer or Audio Electronics Designer
  • PCB Designer or Circuit Design Engineer
You should have solid experience with one or more of the following:
  • Analog circuit simulation or SPICE modeling using Ngspice or Qucs-S
  • Mixed-signal analysis, digital circuit design, or signal integrity workflows
  • Annotating or labeling circuit schematics and simulation outputs
  • Reviewing simulation results for accuracy, performance, or design consistency
What You'll Do
You'll use your experience with Ngspice to create tool-related questions and review AI-generated responses for accuracy and relevance to real-world analog circuit design and simulation workflows.
No prior AI or technical experience is required.
Qualifications
We're looking for people who have:
  • At least 3+ years of hands-on experience with Ngspice, whether through professional work or freelance projects
  • A working knowledge of analog circuit simulation concepts, SPICE models, and electronics workflows
  • Familiarity with tools or languages such as Python, C, or MATLAB is a plus
  • Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to work independently and follow written guidelines
Application Process
  • Create a Handshake account
  • Upload your resume and verify your identity
  • Get matched and onboarded into relevant projects
  • Start working and earning
Work Model and Project Details
  • Status: Independent contractor (not a full-time employee role)
  • Location: Fully remote; work from anywhere with a reliable internet connection and access to a desktop or laptop computer
  • Schedule: Flexible and asynchronous, with no minimum hour requirement. Many contributors work approximately 5-20 hours per week when assigned to an active project
  • Duration: The Handshake AI program runs year-round, with projects opening periodically across different areas of expertise. Placement depends on current project needs, with opportunities to be considered for future projects as they become available

Work Authorization
Must be currently residing in the United States.
