We are currently seeking a Technical Project Manager - Composable eCommerce - Remote to join our team in Dallas, Texas (US-TX), United States (US).

Technical Project Manager – Composable eCommerce

Position Overview

We are seeking a senior Technical Project Manager / Delivery Lead with extensive experience delivering enterprise-scale Headless CMS, Composable Commerce, and Jamstack solutions.

The ideal candidate will bring 10+ years of overall IT project management experience, including 8+ years managing complex eCommerce and modern web application initiatives. This role requires a strong technical understanding of composable architecture and the ability to lead distributed engineering, QA, content, business, and client teams.

The primary technology ecosystem includes CommerceLayer, Contentful CMS, React/Next.js, and Vercel.

This is a highly visible delivery leadership role responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and scope, with strong technical quality and high client satisfaction.

Required Experience

Composable eCommerce

  • 5+ years managing complex enterprise eCommerce project lifecycles, including cart and checkout, multi-currency, global taxation, payments, fulfillment, and order management.
  • 3+ years managing projects using CommerceLayer or comparable headless commerce platforms such as commercetools.
  • Experience managing integrations involving ERP, PIM, payment gateways, inventory, fulfillment, and third-party services.
  • Strong understanding of transactional data flows, APIs, webhooks, inventory synchronization, and integration dependencies.
  • Experience identifying and mitigating delivery risks associated with distributed commerce architectures.

Headless CMS / Contentful

  • 4+ years managing delivery of projects using Contentful CMS in a headless or Jamstack architecture.
  • 3+ years coordinating content modeling, schema design, content migration, and business/marketing onboarding.
  • Experience managing Contentful development, QA, sandbox, and production environments.
  • Experience with localized content, content workflows, publishing processes, and automated content migrations.
  • Ability to coordinate dependencies between content teams, developers, QA, and business stakeholders.

React / Next.js / Vercel

  • 3+ years managing Agile engineering teams delivering applications using React.js and Next.js.
  • 2+ years of experience managing projects hosted and deployed through Vercel.
  • Working knowledge of modern web application deployment, monitoring, release management, and CI/CD practices.
  • Understanding of frontend performance, caching, CDN strategies, SSR/ISR, and dynamic rendering concepts.
  • Ability to identify delivery risks associated with frontend architecture and performance requirements.

Enterprise Client & Stakeholder Management

  • 8+ years serving as a senior client-facing project or delivery leader.
  • Experience managing enterprise stakeholders, executive sponsors, steering committees, and business leaders.
  • Proven ability to manage expectations, scope changes, priorities, escalations, and competing stakeholder requirements.
  • 5+ years managing third-party vendors, specialized consulting teams, security partners, and technology platform providers.
  • Experience working with distributed and geographically diverse teams.

 

Key Responsibilities

Project & Delivery Management

  • Own the end-to-end delivery lifecycle for global composable eCommerce and headless web initiatives.
  • Establish project charters, delivery roadmaps, milestones, release plans, dependencies, and governance structures.
  • Lead Agile ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams consisting of developers, architects, QA engineers, UX teams, content authors, business analysts, and client stakeholders.
  • Identify and resolve cross-team dependencies and delivery blockers.
  • Establish delivery processes that promote predictable execution, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage release planning across development, QA, UAT, staging, and production environments.

Scope, Budget & Risk Management

  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, resources, and delivery commitments.
  • Establish and enforce formal change control processes.
  • Track project financials, resource utilization, burn rates, forecasts, and SOW commitments.
  • Identify technical, operational, integration, and organizational risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Proactively manage dependencies involving APIs, content models, integrations, platform capabilities, and deployment pipelines.
  • Escalate critical issues appropriately and drive timely resolution.

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the primary delivery contact for enterprise clients and senior stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular project status meetings, steering committee reviews, and executive-level reporting.
  • Provide clear reporting on schedule, budget, scope, risks, issues, dependencies, quality, and overall project health.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear business implications and recommendations.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and facilitate decisions when priorities or requirements conflict.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and drive overall customer satisfaction.

UAT, Quality & Release Management

  • Lead and govern the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) process.
  • Coordinate business users, QA teams, developers, and content teams throughout testing cycles.
  • Track defects, remediation, dependencies, and release readiness.
  • Monitor production readiness and coordinate deployment activities.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation, testing evidence, approvals, and release controls are in place.
  • Drive continuous improvement in delivery quality and defect prevention.

 

Performance Expectations

Success in this role will be measured through delivery predictability, financial management, quality, and client satisfaction, including:

  • On-Time Delivery: Target of 90%+ for committed milestones and sprint objectives.
  • Budget Management: Maintain project spend within approximately ±5% of approved budgets.
  • Quality: Maintain low production defect leakage and ensure effective QA/UAT processes.
  • Client Satisfaction: Maintain 85%+ CSAT through effective communication, transparency, and delivery management.
  • Delivery Predictability: Maintain stable team velocity and proactively address factors affecting sprint and release commitments.

 

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of overall IT project/program management experience.
  • 8+ years managing complex digital, eCommerce, web application, or composable architecture projects.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering Headless/Composable eCommerce solutions.
  • Hands-on project delivery experience with CommerceLayer, Contentful, Next.js, and Vercel, or closely comparable technologies.
  • Strong understanding of eCommerce architecture, APIs, integrations, CMS platforms, and modern web development.
  • Strong experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies; experience with Kanban, SAFe, or hybrid delivery models is an asset.
  • Advanced experience with Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience with project planning and visualization tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, Miro, or equivalent platforms.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing, distributed teams in a fast-paced enterprise environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage complex delivery issues and escalations.

 

Certifications

PMP, CSM, or PSM certification is required.

Additional certifications or training in Contentful, CommerceLayer, cloud technologies, Agile delivery, or digital commerce are considered an asset.

 

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
