Job description

  • The Technical Project Manager position leads IS-focused, departmental, divisional, and enterprise projects across SHS. This position completes and manages the creation of project documentation, facilitates large and complex project teams, tracks project-related tasks, milestones and resources.

  • The Technical Project Manager will: 
    • Manage technical requirements, IS documentation, and Key Performance Indicators. 
    • Lead projects related to system implementations, system upgrades, process improvement, moves, remodels and/or operational assistance.
    • Define, emulate, and follow defined PMO methodologies and templates.
    • Assist with updates and changes to the defined methodologies and templates.
    • Work closely with all levels within SHS, including management and senior administration.

  • This is a remote position within Oregon only. 
  •  
  • EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
    • One (1) of the following required:
      • Bachelor’s degree in a related area (Business, Healthcare, or Information Technology) plus eight (8) years Project Management experience. Experience must include leading teams and projects with at least three (3) large scale projects spanning a minimum of one (1) year.
      • Associate’s degree in a related area plus ten (10) years Project Management experience required. Experience must include leading teams and projects with at least three (3) large scale projects spanning a minimum of one (1) year.
    • Experience or training in two (2) different project management methodologies required.
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification required within one (1) year of hire.
    • Master’s degree in a related area (Business, Healthcare, or Information Technology) preferred.
    • Experience in Lean, Operational Improvement and Organizational Change Management/Development preferred.

    • Project Management - Understands project management basics, work breakdown structures, meeting facilitation, timelines, roles and responsibilities, negotiating for resources and timelines, change management and risk identification.
    • Diplomacy - Ability to read a room, lead teams, present to all levels of an organization. Ability to modify approach based on situations and individuals involved.
    • Drive for Results - Ability to help define what “done” is and focus on driving to completion. Ability to keep teams and stakeholders moving towards a goal while listening to their needs and keeping them involved.
    • Self-Management - Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and projects with minimal supervision.
    • Analytical Thinking - Ability to identify needs, tasks, risks, issues early and make sure to follow through on action items and communication within assigned projects. Ability to develop solutions that address the need not just the ask.
    • Communication - Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization, both written and verbal.
    • Conflict Resolution - Ability to diffuse and resolve conflict within assigned projects.
    • System Thinking – Ability to understand how projects interact across multi-disciplinary departments. Ability to understand, communicate and facilitate the needs across the system and not focus on a single area.
    • Information Systems / Technical Literacy – Ability to understand technical needs and components within projects. Understanding of how Information Technology impacts Samaritans business model. Basic understanding of software development lifecycles, application and appliance deployments, infrastructure and networks.
