THE ROLE

About the Role

This is an Individual Contributor (IC) role. The REMOTE Technical Instructional Designer (Software Engineering Audience) role is a highly technical role where you will be required to gain a deep understanding of our clientโ€™s technology and platform capabilities. You will develop engaging technical training content that enables our engineers to effectively understand and use these platforms with minimal reliance on Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). The Content Developerโ€™s responsibilities will focus heavily on content review, training development, and facilitation.

What You'll Do

  • Create & Develop Content: Design and produce engaging technical training content for software engineers, utilizing a variety of formats including written guides, video tutorials, hands-on labs, and other learning modalities.
  • Embed with Engineering Teams: Act as an early tester and end-user by embedding within engineering teams. You'll collaborate directly with platform owners and architects to understand new technologies from the developer's perspective.
  • Curriculum & Documentation: Collaborate with developer advocates, L&D team members, and technical writers to develop and implement a holistic curriculum. You will help identify and ll documentation gaps, using learning materials to close them.
  • Modernize Learning: Create self-service content and experiment with bite-sized learning modules to promote fast adoption and developer success.
  • Project Management: Understand and navigate the varying goals, deliverables, and timelines of our development teams. You will track and manage project issues and risks consistently, taking bold and immediate action to mitigate them effectively.

What We're Looking For

  • Must have 4+ years of relevant hands-on experience in full-stack web development or general software engineering.
  • Proven expertise in instructional design and creating technical training videos and materials.
  • A demonstrated background in instructional design, corporate training, or experience creating technical training videos and documentation.
  • Experience or familiarity with e-Learning development tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Rise) and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Prior experience as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) or technical mentor for internal training programs.
  • Prior experience with program management.

Why This Role?

  • You've shipped real code (4+ years full-stack or software engineering) and you enjoy explaining how things work as much as building them.
  • You want your impact measured by developer adoption and success โ€” not course completions.
  • You'd rather embed with the team building the tech than wait for a spec.
  • You're energized by ambiguity, fast cycles, and AI-assisted ways of working.
