About Our Client:

Addison Group is partnering with a growing construction company seeking an experienced Estimator to join its preconstruction team. This is a highly visible position that works closely with company leadership, project managers, and clients throughout the estimating and budgeting process. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a collaborative environment, can manage multiple bids simultaneously, and has a strong understanding of commercial construction estimating.

Job Description:

The Estimator is responsible for developing accurate project budgets, preparing competitive bids, and supporting preconstruction efforts from project pursuit through turnover to operations. This role plays a key part in evaluating project documents, coordinating subcontractor pricing, identifying project risks, and ensuring estimates are complete, accurate, and aligned with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare conceptual and detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs using construction drawings, specifications, and field information.
  • Develop complete project budgets, including assumptions, exclusions, allowances, and alternates.
  • Solicit, review, and compare subcontractor and supplier pricing.
  • Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, architects, and owners throughout the estimating process.
  • Present budgets and pricing information professionally during client and internal meetings.
  • Maintain bid documentation, drawing revisions, specification updates, and estimate tracking.
  • Evaluate project risks and recommend cost-saving or value engineering opportunities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors and trade partners.
  • Assist with continuous improvements to estimating processes, templates, and historical cost databases.
  • Support smooth project handoffs from preconstruction to operations.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of commercial construction estimating experience.
  • Experience supporting preconstruction activities and budgeting.
  • Knowledge of commercial construction methods, materials, and cost estimating principles.
  • Experience using estimating software and construction management platforms such as Excel, Sage 100, Procore, or similar systems.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, BIM software, or comparable design tools.
  • Strong quantity takeoff and bid analysis experience.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Professional communication and presentation skills for client-facing meetings.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
