Teacher Compensation Plan
Shift Type: Full-Time
Wage/Hour Status: Exempt
Reports To: Principal (Academy) 
  





EMPLOYMENT BEGINS: 26-27


  PRIMARY PURPOSE:

To plan, develop, and implement an effective instructional program within a fully virtual environment that includes the best use of research findings, time, digital space, available technology, financial and community resources, so that student achievement will be maximized for students participating in the MVLE hybrid solution.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor's Degree, with appropriate state certification for subject and level assigned
  • ESL (English as a Second Language) Supplemental Certification preferred
  • Special Education (SPED) Certification preferred
  • Successful experience (five or more years) as a teacher in the assigned core curricular area

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Demonstrate a cognitive understanding of the subject matter and pedagogical skills in his/her teaching field, specifically adapted for remote delivery.
  • Ability to implement IEP and 504 accommodations within a virtual learning platform.
  • Knowledge of English Language Learner (ELL) strategies for digital and asynchronous instruction.
  • Proficiency in the district's approved virtual learning program, such as Edmentum and communication tools like Google Meet.
  • Exhibit excellent public relations and interpersonal skills with students and parents in a non-traditional setting.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Plan and provide appropriate learning experiences virtually; ensure the best use of time and digital space to keep hybrid students on track.
  • Actively monitor student pacing and performance data within the Edmentum and implement immediate remote interventions for students.
  • Conduct virtual office hours and scheduled remote check-ins to provide the human element of instruction for hybrid learners.
  • Work closely with campus-based staff to ensure the on-campus portion of the student's hybrid experience aligns with virtual progress.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation, specifically regarding SPED and ESL documentation.
  • Establish and maintain professional digital communication with students and parents
  • Identify the special needs of students and seek assistance of others as needed, ensuring all accommodations are met in the virtual environment.
  • Attend all required campus and district staff meetings virtually and maintain a professional remote workspace that reflects MISD standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Communicating well, making multiple decisions regarding students' educational, physical, and emotional well-being, and maintaining emotional control under stress.
  • High level of cognitive focus required for digital multitasking and data analysis.

  • Occasional irregular hours; must demonstrate flexibility to provide remote student support outside of traditional school hours as required by the program model
