Job description

The SQL DBA administers, maintains, and optimizes Microsoft SQL Server environments supporting
Department of State mission systems, including Always On availability groups, failover clustering, and hybrid
cloud configurations.
At the Junior level, the SQL DBA performs routine administration under direction, including monitoring,
backups, job management, and patch execution, escalating complex issues to senior staff.
Responsibilities
• Monitor SQL Server instances and respond to routine alerts under direction
• Execute and validate backup jobs and SQL Server Agent jobs
• Perform user, role, and permission administration
• Apply patches and cumulative updates following documented procedures
• Maintain administration documentation and escalate complex issues
Qualifications
• Active Secret clearance
• Experience supporting mission-critical, high-availability environments
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Foundational SQL Server administration experience (2016 or later preferred)
• Basic T-SQL and PowerShell skills
