Job description

A DAY IN THE LIFE

As a Senior Manager of Engineering - Gas Power Generation, you will lead engineering teams responsible for the design, development, and execution of utility-scale gas generation and power infrastructure projects. A typical day involves providing technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, collaborating with project teams and owner representatives, reviewing engineering deliverables, and supporting engineering strategy for complex power generation facilities.

You'll work closely with engineering, estimating, procurement, construction, and project management teams to ensure designs are reliable, constructible, cost-effective, and aligned with project and client requirements. Projects may include gas turbine facilities, simple cycle power plants, substations, switchyards, utility interconnections, transmission infrastructure, balance of plant systems, and supporting electrical, mechanical, and controls systems.

STEP INTO THE ROLE

  • Company program engineering representative during owner project definition and estimating phase. As the company technical manager, responsibility will include interactions with substations, transmission lines, gas industry manufacturers and equipment providers, to establish long-lasting relationships.
  • Guide engineering strategy, design development, constructability reviews, risk identification, and technical decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Determine how clients and the energy market are evolving on design tends, philosophy, and criteria on power plant design, Blattner Energy must understand client design criteria and intent.
  • Will travel to Client office and/or project sites as required to foster client relationships, idea propagation, and problem solving.
  • Build an understanding of the strategic dynamics that are essential to the current markets of the company.
  • Ensure projects are designed and constructed in compliance with all applicable and prudent industry safety standards.
  • Electrical experts will support EHA and ESP update and keep relevant with the Risk Management department.
  • Develop and implement consistent policies, standards, and procedures for engineering; specifically, regarding engineering design basis utilized by Company. Implement guardrails specific to design philosophy and criteria within company program.
  • Stay current on new technologies and industry practices. Seek opportunities to add value to projects with application of best available technology for specific projects. Perform economic analysis / value engineering to determine cost effective solutions and prepare recommendations to procurement team.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Four-year Engineering degree and at least eight years of gas power generation or eight years of civil/mechanical/electrical engineering experiences.
  • Registered professional engineering license required.

WHAT SETS YOU APART

  • Strong background in power generation, utility infrastructure, substations, switchyards, or transmission systems.
