Position Summary:

The Director of Business Development, Power Solutions, will be responsible for the Hyperscaler and Data Center Owner/Operator relationships. As these organizations race towards building gigawatt-scale data centers, this technically-oriented business leader will help solve for challenges in grid availability, power quality, energy resilience and offer/negotiate use of bankable and reliable Canadian Solar critical power infrastructure products ranging from power generation to conversion and storage systems - that will allow these cloud providers to scale. We are seeking a candidate with technical fluency in the data center energy value chain. In this role, you will lead commercial engagements with Tier 1 Hyperscalers (AWS, Google, Meta, Microsoft, Oracle), understanding their complex power system requirements that can be served by our power solution offering (selling our reliability, efficiency, power quality and speed-to-market capabilities). You will engage directly with Data Center Architects, Electrical Engineers, Procurement Leaders, and Infrastructure Owner/Operators to structure deals that solve their most pressing data center power challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Hyperscale Account Strategy: Map the decision-making matrix within Hyperscale organizations, connecting with stakeholders in Energy Procurement, Site Selection, and Critical Infrastructure Engineering.
  • Solution Structuring: Orchestrate complex deals that may involve multiple technologies, including on-site generation, battery storage (BESS), and power conversion, ensuring they meet strict SLA and grid interconnection requirements.
  • Technical Consultative Selling: Participate in high-level technical sales engagements. You are expected to white-board basic power architectures with customer engineering teams, demonstrating how our solutions can ensure uptime for these critical sites.
  • Cyber & Control Advocacy: Position our SCADA and control systems not just as operational tools, but as vital cybersecurity assets in an increasingly threatened infrastructure landscape.
  • Market Feedback Loop: Act as the bridge between the customer's technical roadmap (e.g., higher rack densities, liquid cooling power needs) and our product engineering teams. Collect and understand customer needs, market trends and input from across organizational leadership to align product strategy and roadmap in the Energy Storage market segment.

Requirements:

  • Industry Experience: 10+ years of technical sales &/or business development experience in the Critical Infrastructure or Energy sector.

  • Excellent interpersonal relations and demonstrated ability to work with others effectively in teams.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and proactively with minimal supervision.
