Job description

Overview

Sr. Electrical Engineer (BESS/PV) - Remote - US

NV5 owner representatives act as a dedicated advocate, alleviating project complexities and mitigating risks effectively. Utilizing the latest project controls and project management software, NV5 owner representatives plan and monitor project performance, identifying deviations from the plan and implementing corrective actions in a timely, cost-effective manner.

Our expertise in strategic planning, cost estimation, project controls, and transition management ensures on-time, within-budget delivery to the highest quality standards. Whether it's facilitating site assessments, or coordinating facility shutdowns, owners can confidently trust our team to achieve project goals while experiencing peace of mind.

As our Sr. Electrical Engineer, you will occupy an integral role within our growing EV Clean Mobility Infrastructure team. You will be working with our engineers and project managers responsible for the engineering design of BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) & Solar Photovoltaic (PV) projects.  You will be supporting projects through complete life cycle including the feasibility phase, preliminary and detailed design, issue-for-bid, construction, start-up, and commissioning.

This position can be fully remote within the US.

Responsibilities
  • Perform all levels of electrical design, electrical studies, and analysis pertaining to Solar PV and BESS projects in coordination with an internal team and various project stakeholders. Solar PV and BESS system energy production modelling
  • Develop construction and equipment specifications
  • Engineering calculations (NEC maximum system voltage, conductor sizing, overcurrent protection sizing, utility disconnect requirements, voltage drop, and conduit sizing)
  • Perform final reviews and PE approval for PV and BESS electrical designs.
  • Generate Single Line Diagrams and interpret requirements for the utility interconnection application processes.
  • PV and BESS system cost estimation and payback evaluations
  • Low to medium voltage power distribution design
  • Participate in client meetings including those requiring occasional travel.
Qualifications

We are seeking the following experience & qualifications:

  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain one within 12 months of hire.
  • B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • M.S Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant BESS, EV infrastructure, PV experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge in power system modeling in ETAP and/or SKM.
  • AutoCAD proficiency is a must.
  • Familiarity with utility practices, industry codes and standards.
