Job description

Our mission is to create the Experience of a Lifetime for our employees, so they can, in turn, create the Experience of a Lifetime for our guests. We own and operate the most renowned destination resorts in the world as well as regional and local ski areas outside major cities, and connect them all through one unrivaled network. We are looking for ambitious leaders, innovators and creators to join our talented team. If you’re ready to pursue your fullest potential, we want to get to know you!

Candidates for year-round positions are reviewed on a rolling basis. Applications will be accepted up to 90 days after the posting date, or until the position is filled (whichever is first).

Job Summary:

As the Senior Manager of Capital Projects and Asset Management Accounting (CPAM), you'll turn a high volume of complex projects across dozens of resorts into a clear, actionable story for executive decision-making. This is a high visibility role for someone who wants deep involvement in capital reporting, fixed assets accounting and leading a high impact team at one of the world's leading resort operators.

Reporting to the Director of Capital Projects and Asset Management Accounting, you'll own the capital forecasting model, lead month-end close, and partner closely with Projects & Planning, Insurance & Risk Management, Technical Accounting, Treasury, General Ledger Accounting, Real Estate, Resort Operations and Financial Reporting. You'll also lead integration planning for newly acquired resorts and coach a team building their own accounting and leadership skills.

Job Specifications:

  • Starting Wage: $100,000 - $126,000 + Annual Bonus

  • Employment Type: Year Round

  • Shift Type: Full Time hours

  • Minimum Age: At least 18 years of age

  • Housing Availability: No

Job Responsibilities:

  • Drive financial statement accuracy. Monitor CPAM's compliance with accounting policy, strengthen internal controls, and deliver a complete, accurate, on-time month-end close.
  • Own capital forecasting. Consolidate data, spot risks and opportunities, and lead monthly business reviews with Senior Finance Leadership ahead of executive review.
  • Lead depreciation forecasting. Manage updates, run variance analysis, and own the depreciation model for cash flow and guidance.
  • Shape the budget. Partner with the CPAM Director to forecast Depreciation & Amortization, gain/loss on disposal, and property taxes.
  • Modernize how CPAM works. Reimagine Project Costing / Asset Management processes to cut manual work and build long-term efficiency for CPAM and its stakeholders.
  • Lead acquisition integrations. Build the project plan, coordinate stakeholders, and flag risks to ensure a smooth transition for every newly acquired resort.
  • Develop your team. Manage, train, and coach staff on capital transactions, reporting, and reconciliations.
  • Be the trusted point of contact. Keep stakeholders informed on capital policy and process and support internal and external auditors with clear documentation.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent experience); CPA a plus, not required
  • 6+ years in Accounting or Finance, with demonstrated team management experience
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • A self-starter's drive to deliver in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment — independently and as part of a distributed team
  • Comfort ramping quickly on Vail Resorts' financial systems (Planful, nVision, Blackline, PeopleSoft Financials)
  • Sharp attention to detail balanced with the ability to juggle multiple priorities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a genuine commitment to coaching and mentorship

The expected Total Compensation for this role is $100,000 - $126,000 + Annual Bonus. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.

  • MORE employee discounts on lodging, food, gear, and mountain shuttles
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Excellent training and professional development
