Job description

Position Summary

At Proximity Learning, we believe every student deserves access to exceptional psychological support, no matter where they learn. As a Virtual School Psychologist, you'll deliver comprehensive assessment and mental health services to students in a fully remote environment, meeting them where they are and making a real difference in their academic, social, emotional, and behavioral well-being. You'll work side by side with special education teams, teachers, and families through the power of virtual platforms while bringing evidence-based practices and genuine care to every student you serve. If you're passionate about breaking down barriers to support and want to do meaningful work from anywhere, this role was made for you.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations (cognitive, academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and adaptive) via telehealth-compatible platforms and tools.
  • Administer, score, and interpret standardized assessments in accordance with publisher guidelines for virtual administration.
  • Write clear, legally compliant psychoeducational evaluation reports within required district and state timelines.
  • Participate in virtual IEP, 504, and eligibility meetings as part of the multidisciplinary team, presenting findings and recommendations to families and educators.
  • Provide individual and group counseling services to students via secure video platforms, addressing social-emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs.
  • Develop and monitor Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) in collaboration with classroom teachers and support staff.
  • Consult with teachers, parents/guardians, and administrators on strategies to support student learning and well-being in the virtual environment.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation in compliance with FERPA, HIPAA, and applicable state special education regulations.
  • Collaborate with the ESS team and district partners to ensure continuity of services and smooth case transitions.
  • Respond to crisis situations following established safety and incident protocols, including escalation to the incident team when appropriate.
  • Stay current on best practices in school psychology, telehealth service delivery, and applicable state/federal regulations.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Master's degree in School Psychology from an accredited program.
  • Valid state credential/license as a School Psychologist (or eligibility to obtain credentials in states served).
  • NCSP (Nationally Certified School Psychologist) credential preferred.
  • Experience conducting psychoeducational assessments; experience with virtual/telehealth assessment administration strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, FERPA, and state-specific special education regulations.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, professional evaluation reports.
  • Comfort and proficiency with virtual platforms (video conferencing, electronic IEP systems, digital assessment tools).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a multi-district caseload and competing deadlines.
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection and a private, confidential workspace for telehealth services.

Work Environment & Technology

This is a fully remote position. Employees must provide their own dedicated workspace that ensures privacy and confidentiality for student assessments and counseling sessions. PLI provides access to required platforms, assessment licenses, and technical support. Standard working hours align with the school day(s) of assigned district(s), with occasional flexibility required for IEP meetings or family consultations outside standard hours.

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation based on experience and credentials.
  • Ongoing professional development and support from a collaborative clinical team.
  • Opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students across multiple districts and communities.
