Summary:
  • Mid-Sized Financial Services company needs an MS SQL DBA to work within our IT department. Reporting to the Director of Applications, this candidate will assist in maintaining the internal databases for efficiency, performance, create ad-hoc reports and anticipate growth.
  • Corporate office is located above Union Station but the position is remote with only occasional times coming to the office to meet with the team. Coming to the office isn't a standard routine (e.g. weekly).
Key Position Responsibilities:
  • MS SQL Server Database Administrator
  • Extensive TSQL experience, including query optimization
  • Create and maintain SSIS packages
  • Create and maintain SSRS reports, and SSRS subscriptions, and maintain SSRS server
  • Create and maintain SSAS cubes
  • Perform code reviews for SQL work from the developers and provide guidance on acceptable code practices
  • Maintain knowledge of best practices surrounding IT technology, processes & database / support,
  • Communicate with team members to gather accurate requirements for new enhancements and applications
  • Maintain database documentation regarding data standards and procedures
Non-Technical Requirements:
  • 6+ years Microsoft SQL Enterprise DBA experience is required
  • Experience working in smaller teams within a growing environment
  • Proven ability to independently manage tasks and priorities, accurately estimate work, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision in a fast-paced team environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills, detail-oriented, and self-motivated
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.

Technical Requirements:
  • Prior experience with backup strategies, clustering, log shipping, and DR testing
  • Prior experience with High Availability Failover clusters, SQL server/job monitoring.
  • Prior experience in performing software/patch updates to database server
  • Hands-on experience creating, modifying, and analyzing SQL and T-SQL statements
  • Proven knowledge of Stored Procedures, Tables, Views, Indexes, Keys
  • Understanding of database performance bottlenecks and ability to track them down. Use of Execution Plans and Optimizer is a must.
  • Prior experience with Visual Studio to create SSRS reports, SSIS packages, SSAS cubes
  • Prior experience with Microsoft Management studio
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise version 2016 and above
  • Proven experience using MS SQL Server database design & T-SQL, with the ability to write stored procedures, user-defined functions & SQL queries
