Job description

As a Network Engineer, you will take ownership of complex network configurations, troubleshooting, and optimizations. You'll play a key role in driving infrastructure improvements, leading technical project implementations, and acting as an escalation point for difficult networking issues. Your responsibilities will include automating routine processes, improving monitoring and alerting systems, and contributing to network architecture decisions. You will also mentor junior engineers, collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, and help shape best practices for network reliability and security.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design, configuration, and maintenance of Riot's corporate network infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot complex networking issues and drive resolution independently.
  • Provide expert recommendations and strategic direction for network evolution.
  • Serve as the final point of escalation for emergent network events.
  • Own and deliver critical networking projects from planning to execution.
  • Act as a key liaison with third-party vendors, influencing technical decisions.
  • Author and maintain RFCs, contributing to network engineering best practices.
  • Design, develop, and implement automation tools for network monitoring and response.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers.
  • Take full responsibility for On-Call duties, handling major incidents.
Required Qualifications:
  • Deep expertise in configuring and troubleshooting routing and switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, LACP, MLAG, EVPN/VXLAN).
  • Strong experience with network security, including firewalls, VPNs, load balancers, and AAA frameworks.
  • Advanced knowledge of network utilities and monitoring tools (ICMP, Syslog, NetFlow, SNMP, Wireshark).
  • Hands-on experience managing wireless networks and remote access solutions.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Extensive knowledge of Palo Alto, Juniper, and Arista networking technologies.
  • Strong scripting (Python) and automation (Ansible) expertise.
  • Experience designing and managing AWS networking solutions (route 53)
  • Background in DevOps, Agile methodologies, and CI/CD networking integrations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience, with multiple years in a network engineering role.

For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and choices that focus on your fellow Rioters, who are the customers of your work. Being a dedicated fan of games is not necessary for this position!

Our Perks:

Riot focuses on work/life balance, shown by our open paid time off policy and other perks such as flexible work schedules. We offer medical, dental, and life insurance, parental leave for you, your spouse/domestic partner, and children, and a 401k with company match. Check out our benefits pages for more information.

And just like in our games, we're better when we work together. Our goal is to create collaborative teams where you are empowered to bring your unique perspective everyday. If that sounds like the kind of place you want to work, we're looking forward to your application.
