What is a remote RF engineer?

A Remote RF Engineer is a professional who designs, analyzes, and optimizes radio frequency (RF) systems while working remotely. They focus on tasks such as network planning, signal analysis, interference mitigation, and equipment testing for industries like telecommunications, aerospace, and defense. Using specialized software and tools, they ensure effective wireless communication without being physically present at a work site. This role requires knowledge of RF principles, antenna design, and wireless standards. Strong problem-solving skills and experience with RF simulation tools are essential for success in this position.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of a remote RF engineer?

As a Remote RF Engineer, your daily responsibilities often include designing, simulating, and testing RF circuits and systems, diagnosing performance issues, and optimizing wireless networks from a remote location. You may collaborate virtually with cross-functional teams, prepare technical reports, and participate in project meetings. Many remote RF Engineers also support field teams by analyzing remote test data and providing guidance on troubleshooting. The role requires strong self-discipline and proactive communication to ensure timely project delivery and effective teamwork.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote RF engineer?

To thrive as a Remote RF Engineer, you need a strong background in radio frequency theory, wireless communication, circuit design, and a relevant engineering degree. Familiarity with RF simulation tools (such as CST, HFSS, or ADS), spectrum analyzers, and certifications like a Professional Engineer (PE) license or relevant vendor certifications are highly valued. Excellent problem-solving, self-management, and clear written and verbal communication skills distinguish top candidates. These skills are crucial as RF Engineers must independently analyze, design, and troubleshoot complex wireless systems while effectively collaborating with distributed teams.

Job description

Description
We are looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to personally design, build, and ship the technical solutions that connect Balance to our most strategic customers. This is a hands-on role. contributor role that partners closely with the revenue and product organization to deliver exceptional technical experiences throughout the customer lifecycle.
The role splits between deep, hands-on account work and the broader technical motion: demos, proofs-of-concept, and technical discovery.
It's built for someone who pairs strong technical depth with sharp business judgment.
The FDE reports directly to the VP of Revenue and serves as a key technical voice in shaping how Balance brings technical solutions to market.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Base salary:120,000-150,000, plus performance-based bonus
  • Equity package with the opportunity to share in the company's growth.
  • Hybrid work model: 3 days per week in the office, 2 days remote.

  • Unlimited PTO and company holidays.
  • Opportunity to be a critical hands-on technical voice in a fast-growing fintech's customer-facing organization.

How to Apply
Send your resume along with a link to a project you've personally built - a GitHub repo, demo video, or short write-up.
We want to see what you've made, not just where you've worked.
Responsibilities
  • Support strategic enterprise opportunities through technical discovery, solution design, and executive customer engagements.
  • Own technical demos, solution design, and proof-of-concept initiatives.
  • Ensure successful customer implementations and serve as the escalation point for complex technical challenges.
  • Represent the voice of the customer by translating customer feedback into product and engineering priorities.
  • Work directly with strategic accounts to solve their problems, personally designing, building, and shipping integrations and AI-agent workflows that connect Balance's products into their systems.

Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, Technical Consulting, or Solution Architecture.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Exhibit strong business judgment about deal economics and ROI, and the instinct to know when to build versus when to push back on scope.
  • Sharp ability to get to the core of a customer's problem and its context, and communicate it clearly, internally to Balance's teams and externally to customer stakeholders.
  • Hands-on ability to build and configure AI-agent-based workflows and integrations using modern coding and agent-orchestration tools, able to personally design solutions connecting Balance's products into client systems, not just direct others to build them.
  • Experience supporting enterprise sales cycles and engaging with executive stakeholders.
