We are seeking a Staff Systems Engineer with Common Product Line and DO-178C experience to support the full product lifecycle of safety-critical embedded systems.
The Work
As a Staff Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in transforming customer needs and mission objectives into robust technical solutions. You will support the development and certification of embedded avionics and mission software, with a strong emphasis on software and system requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Develop, decompose, and maintain system, software, and subsystem requirements, including high- and low-level requirements and bidirectional traceability.
  • Define internal and external interfaces and develop and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
  • Develop and review algorithms and technical solutions that meet performance, safety, and mission objectives.
  • Allocate requirements across software, hardware, integration, and test disciplines.
  • Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and systems architecture principles to solve complex technical challenges.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, integration/test, safety, and program teams to resolve issues and validate system performance.
  • Support technical documentation, requirements verification, defect resolution, and lifecycle performance assessments.
  • Support DO-178C and related certification activities while ensuring compliance with applicable aerospace and safety standards.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship while helping drive quality, schedule, and cost objectives.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 9 years of professional systems-engineering experience or 7 years with a Master's degree.
  • Experience with development of software requirements and working collaboratively with software engineers in the design, development, and test of embedded software
  • Experience with the design, integration and test of avionics systems and software operational programs
  • Experience with system design, requirements definition, and documentation standards that meet Common Product Line and DO-178C specifications.
  • Demonstrated experience with Agile development practices and working across cross-functional teams.

Desired Skills
  • Experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) - Preferably CAMEO
  • Experience in engineering, particularly with cockpit, integrated avionics and mission system architectures, avionics, and sensor subsystems
  • Experience with the design, integration and test of avionics systems and software operational programs
  • Experience with integrating avionics hardware
  • Experience with Real Time Operating Systems
  • Proven ability to build strong customer relationships and communicate technical information to senior external stakeholders.
  • Current active Secret security clearance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership abilities; capable of guiding large, high-visibility programs and mentoring multidisciplinary teams.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $104900.00 - $194700.00

  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
