Work Environment

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly clients to identify their specific psychological and emotional needs.
• Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions, utilizing evidence-based practices to address challenges related to aging, such as loss, depression, and anxiety.
• Develop collaborative care plans in conjunction with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, ensuring a holistic approach to individual client care.
• Provide education and support to families and caregivers, offering strategies that enhance the emotional well-being and quality of life for elderly individuals.
• Implement grief and loss counseling for clients experiencing end-of-life transitions, equipping them with coping mechanisms and support systems.
• Design and administer cognitive stimulation programs, incorporating mental health interventions that promote cognitive health among seniors.
• Utilize telehealth technologies to maintain consistent communication with clients, ensuring their ongoing support and access to resources.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary focus of this role is to support older adults, typically aged 65 and over, who may be dealing with complex emotional issues, including grief, loss, chronic illness, and major life changes such as retirement or relocation. Our geriatric clients often present with co-occurring conditions, including substance use disorders, requiring a nuanced understanding of both addiction and the aging process. Your expertise will play a vital role in enhancing their quality of life through tailored counseling interventions.

Qualifications

• A Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
• A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) certification.
• At least four years of recent experience in counseling with a focus on the geriatric population.
• Specialized training in geriatric mental health and aging-related issues is preferred.
• Proficient understanding of evidence-based interventions to promote mental well-being in seniors.

Compensation and Benefits
