Position Overview

We are actively seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) to join our team at the Evangelical Counseling Center. This full-time, remote position offers an opportunity to work specifically with geriatric clients, providing essential mental health services tailored to their unique needs. The role focuses on addiction counseling and holistic support for seniors navigating complex emotional and psychological challenges related to aging.

About the Organization

The Evangelical Counseling Center is dedicated to delivering evidence-based mental health services to individuals of all ages, with a specialized focus on the geriatric population. Our mission is to empower seniors by offering personalized counseling that addresses their emotional well-being during life transitions, grief, and age-related challenges. We value clinical excellence, cultural sensitivity, and a collaborative approach to care, creating a supportive and enriching environment for both our clients and staff.

Work Environment

This position is fully remote, allowing for enhanced flexibility and work-life integration. Utilizing advanced telehealth platforms, professionals can connect with clients from the comfort of their own homes or preferred settings while ensuring high standards of confidentiality and care. The typical workweek is Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, fostering a structured schedule conducive to personal well-being and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly clients to identify their specific psychological and emotional needs.
  • Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions, utilizing evidence-based practices to address challenges related to aging, such as loss, depression, and anxiety.
  • Develop collaborative care plans in conjunction with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, ensuring a holistic approach to individual client care.
  • Provide education and support to families and caregivers, offering strategies that enhance the emotional well-being and quality of life for elderly individuals.
  • Implement grief and loss counseling for clients experiencing end-of-life transitions, equipping them with coping mechanisms and support systems.
  • Design and administer cognitive stimulation programs, incorporating mental health interventions that promote cognitive health among seniors.
  • Utilize telehealth technologies to maintain consistent communication with clients, ensuring their ongoing support and access to resources.
Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary focus of this role is to support older adults, typically aged 65 and over, who may be dealing with complex emotional issues, including grief, loss, chronic illness, and major life changes such as retirement or relocation. Our geriatric clients often present with co-occurring conditions, including substance use disorders, requiring a nuanced understanding of both addiction and the aging process. Your expertise will play a vital role in enhancing their quality of life through tailored counseling interventions.

Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
  • A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) certification.
  • At least four years of recent experience in counseling with a focus on the geriatric population.
  • Specialized training in geriatric mental health and aging-related issues is preferred.
  • Proficient understanding of evidence-based interventions to promote mental well-being in seniors.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with elderly clients and their families.
  • Strong empathetic nature with a commitment to cultural sensitivity when interacting with diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of ethical guidelines and legal standards pertinent to mental health counseling in the geriatric field.
Preferred Experience
  • Demonstrated ability to provide counseling services to elderly individuals facing a range of mental health challenges.
  • Experience in collaborative care settings, working alongside multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Familiarity with telehealth systems and digital communication platforms for remote therapy.
  • Prior involvement in designing cognitive stimulation programs or other therapeutic interventions aimed at the elderly.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary ranging from $65,000 to $95,000 annually, commensurate with qualifications and experience, alongside a sign-on bonus to welcome new team members. Additionally, our robust benefits package fosters the well-being of our staff and may include:

  • Access to an employee assistance program providing confidential counseling and support services.
  • Comprehensive wellness programs that encourage healthy habits and lifestyle choices.
  • Flexible work arrangements tailored to support work-life balance.
  • Health savings accounts or flexible spending accounts to assist with healthcare expenses.
Career Growth Opportunities

At Evangelical Counseling Center, we prioritize the professional development of our team members. You will have access to ongoing training programs, mentoring opportunities, and the chance to attend seminars and conferences to enhance your skills in geriatric mental health. We encourage a culture of continuous learning that empowers our counselors to take on leadership roles and specialized functions within the organization.
