Located in Cape Coral, Florida, our Geriatric Care Clinic specializes in providing compassionate support to seniors navigating life's challenges, including grief, loss, and significant life transitions. Our focus is on creating a nurturing environment where elderly clients feel understood, respected, and empowered as they work through their emotional difficulties.

The use of telehealth technology not only facilitates effective communication and therapeutic interactions with clients but also allows for a balance between work and personal life. You will collaborate closely with a passionate and knowledgeable team dedicated to delivering high-quality mental health care to our aging population.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly residents, pinpointing their specific emotional and psychological care needs.
  • Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions that tackle the emotional challenges associated with aging, helping clients develop coping strategies and resilience.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to create well-rounded care plans tailored to the unique requirements of each elderly client.
  • Educate both staff and families on best practices for improving emotional wellbeing, laying the foundation for better support systems for seniors.
  • Provide specialized grief and loss counseling for residents and their families, addressing the complex feelings surrounding end-of-life matters.
  • Implement cognitive stimulation programs and practical mental health interventions designed to maintain and improve mental acuity in our elderly clients.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Our primary focus is on the geriatric population, who may be facing various mental health challenges due to aging, loss, and transition. Clients may include seniors who are dealing with chronic illness, loss of loved ones, significant life transitions such as retirement or relocation, and those adapting to age-related changes. As a vital member of our team, you will bring vital trust and empathy to foster open communication and therapeutic relationships with these individuals.

Qualifications
  • A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
  • A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential.
  • At least 4 years of recent, relevant experience in geriatric counseling and mental health support.
  • Specialized training or coursework covering geriatric mental health and related issues.
  • Strong understanding of evidence-based interventions that promote mental wellness in elderly populations.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with older adults.
  • A keen sense of empathy and cultural sensitivity while supporting clients from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Experience
  • Demonstrated experience providing counseling services specifically to elderly individuals, with a diverse range of mental health challenges.
  • Familiarity with ethical and legal standards crucial in geriatric mental health counseling.
  • Adeptness in conducting thorough assessments and developing personalized treatment plans that yield positive outcomes.
  • A history of collaborative work with healthcare teams to enhance client care.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive annual salary range of $65,000 to $95,000, commensurate with experience, along with a generous sign-on bonus for selected candidates. Additionally, our benefits package includes:

  • An employee assistance program that provides confidential mental health support to staff.
  • Health and wellness incentives to promote healthy lifestyles among our team members.
  • Flexible work arrangements to support a healthy work-life balance.
  • Health savings accounts or flexible spending accounts to manage healthcare expenses effectively.
Career Growth Opportunities

Balanced Minds Counseling is committed to the professional development of our staff. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, you will have access to advanced training workshops, continuing education credits, and mentorship programs designed to enhance your skillset. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity for upward mobility within the organization to positions that include supervisory roles or specialized clinical tracks.

Why Join Our Team
