Job Brief
We are looking for a Quality Control (QC) Engineer - FTTH who will be responsible for the quality review of all OSP Engineering Design projects and programs.
Job Summary:
We are looking for a Quality Control (QC) Engineer - FTTH who will be responsible for the quality review of all OSP Engineering Design projects and programs, including but not limited to, FTTH work order packages. Previous OSP engineering and Field data collection experience, along with working knowledge of Frontier software systems. The ideal candidate will have expert level experience with Customer Quality Assurance QA metrics, work print design, and other measures to ensure first-time acceptance. Ensure that all required documents are uploaded to Site Tracker, ensure that the WO package is properly posted in GAP/FROGS. CAS Sheet review to ensure all units are captured and match the WPS. OCALC PLA's will also need to be reviewed on all Aerial designs.
Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
• Perform Quality review on all assigned OSP Engineering Design packages
• Ensure that all Aerial Underground and Buried cable designs have been reviewed and analyzed for the most cost-effective solutions and placement
• Verify that the Customer scope of work or plan was followed
• Verify that all existing underground and aerial facilities are correctly located per customer records, city records, and field notes
• Identify missing and or incorrect design information
• Communicate quality issues with the Engineering Vendor.
• Ensure current design is the most effective and efficient plan to follow
• Ensure designs in accordance with customer specifications and guidelines
Required Skills Qualifications:
• Experience with FTTH (Fiber-to-the-Home) technology
• Should have strong understanding of Design and construction of Outside Plant Copper and Fiber Optic Cable (UG, Aerial, Buried, BIC) and manhole and conduit design
• Knowledge of Fiber backbone (F1) and distribution networks (F2)
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office programs and Adobe Acrobat
• Working knowledge of Google Earth
• Highly organized, self-starter, and detail oriented
• High school diploma or GED equivalent. 3+ years of OSP engineering experience
Desired Skills Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics
• High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED) required OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the essential duties of the position
• Previous experience using telecommunications engineering systems such as: Site tracker Infinium, FROGS/Spatial Engineer (AutoCAD based GIS), GAP, DPI/Endeavor, and QPORT (for running reports from Infinium and Endeavor) highly desired
• Knowledge and experience with telecommunications engineering standards with fiber overbuild design or quality control experience preferred
• Capable of identifying issues in the design that would have a potential to impact network buildout
• Experience with interpreting cable or substructure designs
• Knowledge and experience with telecommunications construction techniques
Physical Requirements:
• Work for extended periods of time in a stationary position while consistently grasping, moving, and manipulating documents, office supplies, and other business materials.
• Use of a computer or other technological devices frequently and consistently for the purpose of reviewing, analyzing, creating, and transmitting, and presenting documents, data, and other business-related information.
