What is remote PSA card grading?

Remote PSA card grading refers to the process of submitting trading cards (such as sports or Pokémon cards) to PSA (Professional Sports Authenticator) for evaluation and grading without visiting a physical location. Collectors mail their cards to PSA, where experts assess the cards' authenticity, condition, and assign a grade on a standardized scale. The graded cards are then securely returned to the collector, often encased in a tamper-evident holder and with a certification number for verification. Remote grading is widely used by collectors looking to protect and increase the value of their cards.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote PSA card grader?

To thrive as a Remote PSA Card Grader, you need a deep understanding of trading card attributes, grading standards, and authentication processes, often supported by experience in collectibles or card grading. Familiarity with PSA's proprietary grading software, digital imaging tools, and secure data entry systems is typically required. Strong attention to detail, integrity, and the ability to work independently are crucial soft skills for maintaining accuracy and trustworthiness. These skills ensure consistent, reliable grading decisions that uphold industry standards and client confidence.

What are some common challenges faced by remote PSA card graders, and how can they be managed?

Remote PSA card graders often face challenges such as ensuring consistent grading accuracy without direct access to in-person mentorship or specialized equipment. Managing distractions in a home environment and maintaining focus during long periods of detailed inspection can also be difficult. To address these challenges, it's important to establish a well-lit, organized workspace, follow PSA's grading standards closely, and actively communicate with team members for support and feedback. Taking regular breaks and participating in virtual training sessions can also help maintain high standards and professional growth.

Job description

Collectors is the leading creator of innovative technology that provides value-added services for collectors worldwide. We grade, authenticate, vault, and sell millions of record-setting collectibles, all while modernizing and digitalizing the process to further our mission of helping collectors pursue their passions. We're always on the lookout for talented people to join our growing team.

Our services span collectible trading cards, autographs, comic books, coins, video games, event tickets, and memorabilia. Our subsidiaries include PSA, PCGS, Beckett, SGC, and Card Ladder.

Since our founding in 1986, we have graded and authenticated millions of items. We employ more than 3000 people across our headquarters in Santa Ana, California and offices in New Jersey, Texas, Florida, Japan, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Canada, Mexico, Germany, and France.

As part of our interview process, we request that candidates have their cameras on during video interviews. This helps foster meaningful conversation and allows us to create an experience that closely resembles our standard working environment. Certain interview steps may take place by phone. For remote roles, and at our discretion, candidates may be asked to participate in an on-site interview as part of the final stages of the process.

We understand there may be occasional circumstances requiring accommodation and are happy to discuss them as needed. Your recruiter will be able to clarify expectations and answer any questions you have.

We are looking for a Corporate Counsel to serve as the designated legal lead for our growing Financial Services business and our payments ecosystems across business lines partnering closely with other members of our Legal and Financial Services teams. This is a build role: the right candidate will help stand up the legal infrastructure for a bank-originated lending program from the ground up while continuing to iterate as our business and payments ecosystems grow and scale.

You'll report to the General Counsel and work from our Santa Ana office. Remote or hybrid candidates will also be considered. We believe that there is significant value in in-person collaboration. If you live within a 1 hour commuting distance to one of our offices, you will be required to be onsite most of the time. This will be discussed further as part of the recruiting process.

What You'll Do

  • Take primary legal responsibility for Collectors' lending program, including drafting commercial and consumer loan agreements, key partner agreements, program documents, and ongoing program governance

  • Partner with outside counsel, consultants, and the Collectors Financial Services team on program design and regulatory positioning

  • Draft and maintain disclosures and review marketing materials in compliance with applicable laws

  • Stay current on developments in consumer lending regulation and emerging requirements affecting program structure

  • Advise on AML/BSA, OFAC, and KYC obligations applicable to lending counterparties and payments flows

  • Cross-functional partnership to embed legal and compliance requirements across the lending lifecycle and non-lending payments flows

Who You Are

  • A graduate of a top law school with AmLaw100 or other large national law firm experience

  • In good, active standing with the California Bar (or eligible for registered in-house counsel status)

  • 6+ years of legal experience, with at least 2-3 years at a fintech, BaaS platform, or other consumer lending company in an in-house legal role or a similar role advising such companies at a top law firm

  • Substantive experience with consumer lending regulation: TILA/Reg Z, UDAAP, FCRA, ECOA, GLBA, state licensing, and bank partnership program structures

  • Working familiarity with payments and money movement concepts (money transmission, stored value/wallets, EFTA/Reg E, card network basics) sufficient to spot issues and partner effectively with business teams

  • Comfortable advising on novel product structures and partnering with business teams in a fast-moving environment

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams while maintaining quality

Salary range:

The salary range for this position is $190,000 to $300,000. Actual compensation on this range varies based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including location, job level, experience, and skill set. This role may be eligible for bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation, please ask your recruiter for details.

Reasons To Join Us:

  • Health Insurance: All full-time employees are eligible to enroll in Medical, Dental, and Vision

  • Additional Benefits: Full-time employees are eligible for fertility, commuter, and educational assistance benefits

  • 401(K) Matching Plan: We are proud to offer a competitive 401k matching plan to our employees to support their future financial goals

  • Vacation: All salaried employees are eligible for flexible time-off

  • Holiday Pay: All regular, full-time employees are eligible for ten company paid holidays

  • Employee Discounts: Employees receive discounts on select grading services for approved submissions

  • Flexible Hours: Many of our teams offer flexible schedules with varying shifts and will work with you to accommodate your needs

  • Fun Working Environment: Our team members are invited to participate in celebrations, holiday events, and team building activities

Qualified applications with arrest or conviction records will be considered for employment in accordance with the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers and the California Fair Chance Act.

Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
