Compensation

$125000 - $165000 / year

Position Summary

This position can be remote with up to 30% travel required. 

The Senior Estimator Prepares cost estimates for projects in the planning, design, and construction phases. Produces bid proposals and prepares buy-outs.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties
  • Prepares take-offs, estimates, and budgets 
  • Prepares buy-outs 
  • Attends pre-bid job walks 
  • Solicits and analyzes subcontractor/vendor pricing information 
  • Reviews project plans and specifications 
  • Reviews and incorporates historical data from prior estimates, purchase agreements and subcontracts to gain information for current bids 
  • Reviews contract documents and attends pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimates 
  • Reviews quotes, estimates, and bids with the Chief Estimator 
  • Coordinates with estimators in preparation for bid day 
  • Ensures that bid documentation is logged and filed after bid day 
  • Assists in the purchasing process 
  • Assists with training, supervision, and development of other estimating staff. 
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A minimum of 7 years of construction estimating experience 
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of estimating strategies and techniques 
  • Proficiency in planning, scheduling, staffing, budgeting, and job costing 
  • Understanding of RFP and contract requirements 
  • Understanding of all construction divisions and general construction knowledge 
  • Ability to effectively supervise estimating staff 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills 
  • Experience using estimating software and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite 
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Works indoors, with some onsite/outdoor work 
  • Frequently sits, stands, walks, reads, writes, and uses a computer keyboard 
  • May be exposed to harsh weather conditions including very hot and very cold weather. 
  • Remote opportunity with up to 30% travel required.
