Remote Prop Making information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Prop Maker, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Prop Maker, you need strong craftsmanship, creative design abilities, and experience with materials like foam, wood, and plastics, often supported by a portfolio of previous work. Familiarity with 3D modeling software, laser cutters, and fabrication tools is commonly required, and knowledge of safety protocols or certifications in prop making can be advantageous. Attention to detail, effective communication, and time management are essential soft skills, especially when collaborating remotely with clients or teams. These skills ensure the creation of high-quality, safe, and visually compelling props that meet client specifications and project deadlines.

What is the difference between Remote Prop Making vs Remote Set Design?

Common Search/ComparisonYesYes

Remote Prop Making involves creating physical props for entertainment or display, requiring craft skills and technical knowledge. Remote Set Design focuses on designing entire sets or environments, emphasizing visual aesthetics and spatial planning. Both roles often collaborate within the entertainment industry but differ in scope and skill set.

What are some common challenges faced by remote prop makers, and how can they effectively overcome them?

Remote prop makers often encounter challenges such as coordinating with production teams across different locations, managing shipping logistics, and ensuring that props meet precise specifications without in-person feedback. To overcome these hurdles, it's important to maintain clear and frequent communication with clients and collaborators, use detailed documentation and visual references, and establish reliable shipping and tracking processes. Many remote prop makers also invest in high-quality digital tools for design and project management to streamline collaboration and ensure their work meets expectations.

What is remote prop making?

Remote prop making involves designing, building, and finishing props for theater, film, television, cosplay, or events from a remote location, rather than on set or in a studio. Prop makers work from their own workshops or homes, collaborating with clients and production teams online to create custom pieces. The process may include digital modeling, crafting with various materials, and shipping the finished props to the client. Remote prop makers need strong communication skills, time management, and the ability to interpret creative briefs accurately. This role allows for flexibility but requires self-motivation to meet deadlines.

Hiring Process
We keep our process simple, transparent, and respectful of your time. Here's what to expect:
1. Application screening
We carefully review all applications to identify candidates whose research experience, analytical thinking, and familiarity with financial markets best match the role's performance objectives, while ensuring a timely and transparent update on your application.
2. Video Self-Introduction
A short asynchronous video where you introduce yourself, share your background, and briefly explain your experience with financial markets, research, or the prop trading industry. This helps us understand your communication style, professional motivation, and fit for remote, ownership-driven work.
3. Discovery Interview with HR Team
Shortlisted candidates will join a conversation with Lilit Y., our HR Generalist, focused on your professional background, research experience, analytical approach, and alignment with Prop Firm Match Global FZCO's culture and values, while also giving you a clear overview of the company, role expectations, and the opportunity to share your goals and ask questions.
4. Research Task
You'll complete a short, role-relevant research task based on real Prop Firm Match scenarios, with clear instructions and expectations. This gives you insight into the type of research work you would perform while allowing us to evaluate your analytical thinking, structure, and attention to detail, followed by structured feedback on your submission.
5. Interview with Hiring Manager
At this stage, you will join a conversation with Abdulazeez A., our Lead of Research, the hiring manager focused on your research methodology, futures market expertise, and ability to analyze proprietary trading firms, while also giving you visibility into how research supports our platform, content, and strategic initiatives in a collaborative, two-way exchange.
6. Functional Interview
A broader professional conversation with a senior team member, focused on research methodology, analytical thinking, market understanding, communication of findings, and how the candidate approaches complex research problems.

A conversation with a peer from across the team focused on values, culture, and how you work best. You'll have plenty of space to ask questions and get a real feel for life at PFM.
If there's a strong mutual match, we start with an informal conversation to align on expectations, then follow up with a formal written offer. Full transparency throughout, and time for you to make an informed decision.
To keep things fully transparent and mutually fair, we complete a reference check before the formal offer is extended. No surprises - just part of how we make careful, informed decisions on both sides.
Benefits
Before applying take into account that:â–¸ If you don't meet every single qualification but believe you can excel in the role based on what it requires - we encourage you to apply.
â–¸ We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome applicants from all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
â–¸ Even if it's not listed as a formal requirement, we truly value candidates who have clear familiarity with the prop trading industry and us, our mission and what we do.
