Project Engineer / Controls Estimator - Minneapolis, MN - $80,000-$100,000 + Fully Paid HealthcareAbout the Opportunity:

A rapidly growing mechanical and controls contractor in Minneapolis is seeking a motivated Project Engineer / Controls Estimator to support an expanding building automation division. This role is ideal for someone with engineering, controls design, or programming experience who wants to build or strengthen their skills in estimation. Tridium experience is a strong advantage.

Position Details:
  • Title: Project Engineer / Controls Estimator
  • Location: Minneapolis, MN
  • Status: Full-Time
  • Remote: No - On-site office work with local field visits
Ideal Candidate:
  • Background as a Project Engineer, Controls Designer, or similar technical position
  • Ability to create HVAC/Controls drawings using MS Visio or comparable software
  • Experience reviewing mechanical and controls drawings and project specifications
  • Strong understanding or interest in Tridium and modern BAS platforms
  • Eagerness to learn cost estimation, bidding, and material takeoffs
  • Strong communication and coordination skills with vendors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design controls layouts and prepare submittal drawings
  • Interpret and review HVAC/Controls blueprints and project specs
  • Assist in developing detailed cost, material, and labor estimates
  • Conduct site visits and job walks to support estimating and design accuracy
  • Maintain pricing databases and track vendor material updates
  • Prepare and deliver proposals, budgets, and supporting documentation
