Job description

Project Engineer – Heavy Civil Construction (Dams, Tunnels, Underground)
Engineering & Construction Innovations, Inc. (ECI)
Oakdale, Minnesota, with project assignments across the Midwest (Travel Required)
$75,000 - $105,000 per year, based on experience
About the work:
Most Engineering and Construction professionals spend their careers working on roads and buildings from behind a screen in an office. Ours spend theirs inside hydroelectric dams, in tunnels and on underground and geotechnical projects that most contractors won’t take on. Our project engineers are in the field from the start, working next to people who have spent their whole careers on this kind of work. If that sounds like the kind of experience you’re looking for, we’d like to hear from you.
What you'll do:

  • Implement project quality control plans

  • Interpret drawings and specifications, perform quantity calculations and material takeoffs

  • Develop weekly look-ahead schedules to help the Superintendent stay ahead of project work

  • Field surveying and layout alongside our crews

  • Prepare work plans and schedule material deliveries

  • Maintain project records, including daily reports, photos, and job cost data

  • Support change orders and as-built documentation

  • Learn cost tracking and scheduling from project managers who will train you to run your own work

  • Learn, collaborate, and innovate on each project

Travel
Our projects often involve long-term assignments in the Twin Cities metro area and across the Midwest. Project related travel is typically 50-75%. ECI offers competitive traveler benefits for projects away from our Oakdale office.
What we're looking for:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management

  • 1-2 years of U.S. Based heavy civil experience (internships and co-ops count)

  • Able to read and work from construction drawings

  • Willing and able to work on project sites away from home for extended periods

  • Authorized to work in the U.S. now and in the future without employer sponsorship

A plus, not a requirement: dam, hydro, tunnel, or geotechnical project exposure; EIT certification; survey or layout experience; an internship with a heavy civil or underground contractor.

Pay and Benefits:
  • $75,000 - $105,000 per year, based on experience

  • Competitive traveler benefits on project assignments

  • Medical, dental, vision insurance and wellness program

  • Short-term disability, long-term disability and life insurance

  • Simple IRA retirement plan with company match of 3%

  • 15 days of PTO plus 6 paid holidays
