Job description

About Ramp

Ramp is building the smart infrastructure for finance teams, embedded in the transaction flow of every dollar a business spends. We automate how over $200B in annualized spend flows in and out of 70,000+ companies: authorizing payments, flagging risk, categorizing spend, and closing books.

The problems are high-stakes, data-dense, and unforgiving.

We hire people with high agency and high urgency. We look for slope over intercept. We care less about where you trained and more about what you’ve built. At Ramp, everyone is a builder who owns problems end to end and makes consequential decisions that shape the outcome.

The median Ramp customer saves 5% and grows revenue 16% in their first year – far in excess of businesses operating without Ramp. We believe every ambitious company deserves the same.

If you want to build systems that directly shape how companies move and manage billions, Ramp is the place to do it.

About the Role

We're looking for a Technical Program Manager who can operate at the intersection of engineering, product, and business — someone deeply technical, trusted instinctively by engineers, and sharp enough to drive clarity and momentum across complex, cross-functional programs. This is a high-agency role with real executive visibility and direct impact on how Ramp's engineering organization scales.

We're looking for someone who is energized by complexity, deeply curious about what AI can unlock for engineering teams, and eager to apply it hands-on in their work. You should be someone who experiments with AI tools regularly, thinks about how they change the way software gets built, and brings that perspective into how you run programs.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead large-scale technical programs across engineering and adjacent teams—from CI/CD and infrastructure scaling to incident response, and driving other strategic projects across the engineering organization

  • Own Ramp's engineering incident response program, improving processes, running retrospectives, and keeping the bar high on how the org learns from incidents

  • Be the connective tissue between platform and product engineering teams, ensuring context flows both ways and nothing falls through the cracks and high-quality execution of projects in an effective manner

  • Own programs end-to-end: from scoping and kickoff through delivery, observability, and retrospective

  • Partner with engineering leaders to define technical roadmaps, understand how multiple projects overlap and complement each other, and ensure the programs fit within the goals of the organization

  • Collaborate with lead engineers, engineering managers and other groups to help communicate business and engineering strategies to the wider organization

  • Help shape how the TPM function operates at Ramp: set standards, define playbooks, and raise the bar for how technical programs are run

What You Need

  • 5+ years of TPM experience, ideally in a high-growth startup environment

  • Genuine AI fluency: you are actively building with and thinking about AI tools (Cursor, Claude Code, etc.) and using them in day-to-day work, not just aware of them

  • Ability to operate as both executor and leader. You're the person who does the work and raises the bar for how it gets done

  • Proven ability to earn trust quickly and become the person teams want to confide in — this is a relationship-driven role as much as an execution one

  • BA/BS in a technical or analytical field (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Analytics, or related)

  • Proven ability to lead small, cross-functional teams toward ambitious goals with urgency and agency.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience building programs at high-rigor, fast-moving companies

  • Background as a software engineer or technical founder

  • Familiarity with how LLM-based systems are built and deployed — enough to have a meaningful technical conversation with the engineers building them

Benefits available to all full-time Ramp employees (Global)

• Flexible PTO

• Unlimited AI token usage

• Centralized home-office equipment ordering

• Health and wellness stipend

• Budget for intra-office travel

• Weekly coffee stipend

United States

• 100% medical, dental & vision insurance coverage for you, with partial coverage for dependents

• One Medical annual membership

• 401(k), including employer match on contributions made while employed by Ramp

• Fertility HRA (up to $10,000 per year)

• Parental leave: up to 16 weeks (birthing + bonding) or 8 weeks (bonding only) at 100% pay

• Pet insurance

• In-office perks: lunch, snacks, drinks, and more

• Relocation support to NYC or SF (as needed)

Canada

• Group medical, dental, and vision coverage through Sun Life

• Life, AD&D, and disability coverage

• Fertility drug coverage (up to $4,000 lifetime)

• Group Retirement Plan with employer match (RRSP + DPSP)

• Parental leave: up to 16 weeks (birthing + bonding) or 8 weeks (bonding only) at 100% pay, with additional time available at reduced pay

• Employee Assistance Program and virtual care through Lumino Health

United Kingdom

• Private medical insurance through Freedom Elite

• Virtual GP and at-home care via eMed x Livi

• Workplace pension through Penfold, with salary sacrifice option

• Parental leave: up to 16 weeks (birthing + bonding) or 8 weeks (bonding only) at 100% pay with additional time available at reduced pay
