Job Overview

The Senior, Program Management drives business results by fostering a culture of accountability and consistent project and program management practices. This role facilitates collaboration, motivates teams, and ensures clear communication and visibility to successfully deliver large, cross-functional programs across Macys.com, Bloomingdales.com, and their associated mobile apps. The Senior, Program Management guides Product, User Experience, Analytics, and Engineering teams while leading initiatives that span multiple business areas to deliver measurable value.

What You Will Do

  • Oversee a portfolio of initiatives within a large product area that advance company objectives and the digital vision.
  • Lead additional initiatives championed by executive leadership to support digital and customer-focused goals across multiple business areas.
  • Manage large, cross-functional programs with multiple layers of dependencies, involving executive leaders and diverse teams; proactively identify risks, issues, and roadblocks, and drive resolution.
  • Lead product-area planning sessions that support the product development lifecycle, engaging Product, User Experience, Analytics, and Engineering partners effectively to drive efficiency and strong outcomes.
  • Utilize specialized knowledge of industry standards and best practices to guide programs and initiatives.
  • Uphold, lead, and enforce organizational change management disciplines across programs.
  • Recognize the relationships and impacts of programs across business units, providing recommendations to mitigate risks and enhance initiative success.
  • Critically evaluate established processes and suggest relevant improvements to increase efficiency and outcomes.
  • Deliver analysis and thought leadership on issues critical to achieving the business’s strategic goals.
  • Lead program reviews with stakeholders and senior leadership to ensure alignment and achieve specific outcomes.
  • Develop strong followership around common goals, managing multiple stakeholders both within and outside the digital organization.
  • Assist in creating stakeholder-facing metrics, executive summaries, presentations, and reporting.
  • Plan and execute special projects using project management best practices to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities. 
  • In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.

Skills You Will Need

Program & Project Management Expertise: Deep understanding of project and program management concepts, planning, monitoring, and reporting, with experience managing large, cross-functional initiatives.

Cross-Functional Leadership: Proven ability to lead and influence Product, User Experience, Analytics, Engineering, and other business teams to deliver strategic outcomes.

Change Management: Expertise in organizational change management to ensure successful adoption of initiatives across multiple business units.

Technical Acumen & Communication: Comfortable discussing technical topics with business stakeholders and business topics with technical teams; experience working closely with software engineers, QA, product managers, and other engineering teams.

Delivery Methodologies: Familiarity with multiple delivery frameworks, including Lean, Agile, and Scrum, and the ability to adapt methodology to project needs.

Strategic Thinking & Analysis: Ability to analyze information, identify trends, diagnose problem areas, and provide actionable insights and recommendations.

Decision-Making & Problem-Solving: Decisive and outcome-driven, capable of making informed, critical decisions quickly while considering business impact.

Stakeholder Management & Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience influencing senior management, aligning stakeholders, and conducting program reviews.

Organizational Skills & Prioritization: Highly organized and adaptable in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, able to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Team Leadership & Mentorship: Natural team-builder and motivator, skilled at resolving conflicts, mentoring junior team members, and fostering collaboration across remote and co-located teams.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Ability to critically evaluate processes, suggest improvements, and apply industry best practices to drive efficiency and effectiveness.

Outcome Orientation: Proven track record of delivering results that drive business success and program impact.

Technical Tools & Certification: Experience with project management tools and metrics, with PMP certification preferred.

  • Candidates with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. 8+ years of related experience.
