Remote Product Operations information

What is remote product operations?

Remote Product Operations refer to the process of managing and optimizing the workflows, tools, and communication involved in developing, launching, and maintaining products, all from a remote or distributed work environment. Professionals in this role act as a bridge between product managers, engineering, and other teams to ensure smooth product lifecycle execution, even when teams are not co-located. They focus on streamlining processes, tracking key metrics, and facilitating collaboration across time zones and geographies. This role is increasingly important as more companies adopt remote or hybrid work models.

How does a remote product operations professional typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product development?

As a Remote Product Operations professional, you’ll frequently work with product managers, engineers, designers, and customer support teams to streamline workflows and ensure that projects stay on track. Daily tasks often involve coordinating virtual meetings, maintaining documentation, gathering feedback, and tracking key performance metrics. Effective communication and strong organizational skills are essential, as you’ll serve as a bridge between various teams to identify bottlenecks and drive process improvements. While working remotely, leveraging digital tools for collaboration and information sharing is crucial to maintaining alignment and momentum across dispersed teams.

What key skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a remote product operations professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Product Operations professional, you need a solid understanding of product lifecycle management, data analysis, and project coordination, often supported by a degree in business, engineering, or a related field. Familiarity with tools like Jira, Asana, product analytics platforms, and collaboration software such as Slack or Zoom is typically required. Outstanding communication, problem-solving abilities, and self-motivation are essential soft skills for remote teamwork and efficient operations. These skills and qualities enable seamless product development, effective cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to drive projects forward in a distributed work environment.

Job description

Operations Lead, Strategic Growth Initiatives
Department: Strategy
Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time
Location: Remote USA - In Tandem
Compensation: $150,000 - $170,000 / year
Description
At In Tandem, we build technology that helps families manage everyday routines and navigate life's biggest transitions. Through our four brands-OurFamilyWizard, Cozi, FamilyWall, and Custody Navigator-we help families stay organized, communicate well, and foster healthy childhoods.
We believe technology should strengthen relationships and make daily coordination less complicated. Everything we create is designed to lighten the mental load, reduce conflict, and support families through big and small moments.
If you want your work to make a real difference in the daily lives of parents and kids, In Tandem is the place where your impact will truly matter.
As an Operations Lead, Strategic Growth Initiatives, you will be a strategic operator who brings structure to ambiguity, aligns cross-functional teams, and moves high-priority growth initiatives from idea to execution. Reporting to the VP of Operations, you will work across Product, Go-To-Market, Operations, Partnerships, Finance, Legal, and leadership to strengthen how In Tandem executes. You will move fluidly between strategy and hands-on implementation, using AI as a practical tool to increase speed, quality, and operating leverage.
What you will accomplish:
  • Run a tight executive operating cadence, including weekly leadership meetings, monthly business reviews, board preparation, leadership offsites, and the metrics and narratives that anchor decision-making.
  • Turn company goals into clear operating frameworks such as OKRs and KPIs, surface risks early, and drive follow-through on decisions and commitments.
  • Evaluate and execute partnership and business development opportunities through market mapping, research, opportunity sizing, diligence, outreach preparation, testing, and execution planning.
  • Lead high-priority, cross-functional special projects that matter to company growth, from strategic analyses and process redesigns to product launches, commercial experiments, and new-market opportunities.
  • Use AI tools daily to accelerate research, synthesis, planning, documentation, communication, and workflow design; build lightweight AI-enabled workflows, prompts, templates, and internal tools that help teams move faster.
  • Create repeatable playbooks, dashboards, launch plans, operating metrics, and other systems that improve clarity, accountability, speed, and measurement as the company grows.

Who you are:
  • A high-ownership operator who is energized by ambiguity and can create structure without waiting for perfectly defined responsibilities.
  • A structured, analytical problem-solver with strong business judgment who can move from sizing an opportunity to making sure the right follow-ups actually happen.
  • A trusted cross-functional partner who builds credibility across Product, GTM, Operations, Finance, Legal, Partnerships, and leadership.
  • Action-oriented and comfortable getting into the details; you care as much about implementation and outcomes as you do about the quality of the strategy.
  • Curious and pragmatic about AI, with a habit of actively using new tools to improve your own work and the way teams operate.

What you bring:
  • 4+ years of experience across strategy, operations, product operations, business operations, growth, partnerships, consulting, investing, banking, or a similarly high-ownership environment.
  • Ideally, a mix of strategy training and meaningful operating experience inside a company-for example, consulting or investing followed by 1-2 years in an operations, growth, product, partnerships, or business role.
  • Experience in SaaS, consumer technology, marketplaces, healthcare technology, fintech, or another technology-enabled business.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives in fast-moving environments while managing multiple workstreams, stakeholders, and deadlines.
  • Experience supporting product launches, GTM initiatives, strategic partnerships, commercial experiments, or growth projects.
  • High comfort with AI tools and genuine curiosity about how AI can improve business operations, productivity, and decision-making.
  • Nice to have: experience working closely with Product and Engineering; partnerships, BD, channel strategy, or ecosystem development; automation/workflow platforms such as Claude, Notion AI, Airtable, or Zapier; and building dashboards, operating metrics, launch plans, internal playbooks, or executive reporting.

What we're not looking for:
  • Someone who has only advised from the outside and has not owned execution inside a company.
  • Someone who is purely a project manager without strong strategic, analytical, or commercial judgment.
  • Someone who is interested in AI only conceptually, but does not actively use AI tools in their own work.
  • Someone who needs highly defined responsibilities and struggles with ambiguity.
  • Someone who produces strategy documents but does not enjoy driving implementation.
