Job description

Build Your Business with CM Tax & Insurance Solutions Group

CM Tax & Insurance Solutions Group is seeking licensed insurance professionals to join our growing organization as 1099 Independent Contractor Commercial Insurance Producers.

This opportunity is designed for an insurance professional who wants to build and grow a commercial insurance business while working within a relationship-driven financial services organization.

At CM Tax & Insurance Solutions Group, we believe effective insurance planning is about more than selling a policy. It is about understanding a client's business, identifying risks, protecting what they have built, and helping position their business for continued growth.

Our approach is centered around:

Build • Protect • Grow

As a Commercial Insurance Producer, you will have the opportunity to develop business relationships, work with insurance leads provided by our Insurance Solutions Group team, identify commercial insurance needs, connect clients with appropriate insurance solutions, and build a sustainable book of business.

About the Opportunity

This is a remote, commission-based 1099 independent contractor opportunity for an actively licensed insurance producer.

CM Tax & Insurance provides insurance leads and business-development opportunities to help producers build their pipeline and develop new client relationships. Producers may also generate business through their own networking, referrals, community engagement, professional relationships, and independent prospecting activities.

The position provides the flexibility and autonomy associated with an independent contractor relationship while giving you the opportunity to build your commercial insurance practice alongside the broader CM Tax & Insurance Solutions Group platform.

You will be responsible for developing business relationships, following up with provided leads, identifying commercial insurance needs, conducting needs-based conversations, developing opportunities, and maintaining strong client relationships.

This is an opportunity for an insurance professional who is motivated to build a business, develop meaningful relationships, and grow professionally while having access to opportunities generated through the CM Tax & Insurance Solutions Group platform.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow up with insurance leads provided by CM Tax & Insurance Solutions Group and work those opportunities through the sales and client-development process.

  • Develop and cultivate relationships with business owners, entrepreneurs, and commercial clients.

  • Identify prospective commercial insurance clients through provided leads, networking, referrals, community engagement, professional relationships, and independent business-development activities.

  • Conduct consultative conversations to understand a business's operations, exposures, goals, and insurance needs.

  • Identify potential coverage gaps and risk-management considerations.

  • Develop and present appropriate commercial insurance solutions based on client needs.

  • Work with applicable insurance carriers, wholesalers, and other insurance resources to obtain appropriate coverage options.

  • Maintain accurate client and prospect information within applicable CRM and business systems.

  • Develop and maintain a professional book of business.

  • Provide responsive, relationship-focused service to clients and prospects.

  • Pursue opportunities for appropriate account rounding, cross-selling, and referrals when consistent with client needs.

  • Maintain required insurance licenses and comply with applicable state insurance laws and regulations.

  • Obtain and maintain nonresident licenses and carrier appointments as appropriate for the markets served.

  • Stay current on commercial insurance products, industry developments, regulatory requirements, and risk-management concepts.

  • Represent CM Tax & Insurance Solutions Group professionally in business, community, and networking environments.

What We're Looking For

We welcome licensed insurance professionals who are entrepreneurial, relationship-oriented, and interested in growing their commercial insurance practice.

Ideal candidates demonstrate:

  • An active Property & Casualty insurance producer license in their resident state.

  • Willingness and ability to obtain additional nonresident licenses as business needs require.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain applicable carrier appointments.

  • Knowledge of commercial insurance principles and risk management.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.

  • Consultative sales and needs-analysis skills.

  • Business development and prospecting ability.

  • Professional judgment and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and organization.

  • Comfort using technology, CRM systems, virtual communication tools, and digital documentation.

  • Commitment to ethical, compliant, and client-centered insurance practices.

  • Self-motivation and the ability to manage an independent business-development workflow.

  • The ability to follow up consistently and professionally with both provided leads and independently developed opportunities.

Education & Experience

A specific college degree is not required.

We recognize that successful insurance professionals develop their expertise through many different pathways, including:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Professional certificates

  • Associate or bachelor's degree

  • Insurance industry training

  • Workforce development programs

  • Military training or professional experience

  • Industry certifications

  • Relevant commercial insurance or business-development experience

Relevant experience, professional training, licensing, and demonstrated capability may be considered in place of traditional educational credentials.

Technology & Remote Work Requirements

Because this is a remote independent contractor opportunity, producers should have access to:

  • A reliable computer or laptop

  • Reliable high-speed internet

  • Smartphone

  • Secure and professional workspace

  • Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace

  • CRM and digital client-management systems

  • Electronic signature tools

  • Virtual meeting and communication platforms

Independent Contractor Relationship

This position is structured as a 1099 independent contractor engagement, not as employment.

The producer maintains responsibility for managing their independent business activities, schedule, work methods, equipment, workspace, applicable business expenses, licenses, and tax obligations.

This opportunity does not include employee benefits, paid time off, or an employee salary.

Compensation is commission-based and tied to applicable business production and the terms of the independent contractor agreement.

The producer maintains the independence and autonomy appropriate to an independent contractor relationship while collaborating with CM and utilizing available company-provided business opportunities and resources.
