We ship millions of orders for almost 1,000 customers across 30 warehouses nationwide (approximately 10MM sqft). POSITION SUMMARY: We are currently looking for a Process Engineer to join our growing organization here at Smart Warehousing. This position will be responsible for the preliminary scope and development of complex warehouse projects including best practices for storage of products, process improvement, financial review of rates and innovation, infrastructure and more. This role will partner with cross functional teams in the implementation of network and storage improvements to reduce spend and increase storage capacity. This role is highly responsible for embedding a continuous improvement model throughout our warehouses.
Additional Role Details:
  • This role will have 3 primary focuses including local and nationwide financial analytics, storage capacity planning across our nationwide footprint, and reduction of spend and optimization of space.
  • For the first year, this role will require up to 60-70% travel to all of our locations to learn the ins and outs of each location. After that, travel will consistently be around 40-50% throughout the year.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Identify and implement innovative process changes that will improve efficiencies, capacity, and throughput and output.
  • Optimize performance of warehouse equipment, building layout, and infrastructure components.
  • Design and implement strategies to optimize picking and packing processes from end to end (inbound and outbound).
  • Recommend materials and equipment for each warehouse to support the optimization of storage processes.
  • Provide data and recommend the criteria for quality and speed, then consistently measure distribution/manufacturing behaviors, while evaluating our success.
  • Establish engineering standards and KPI's that assist in driving accountability, root cause analysis/containment actions and process improvement specifically focused on network and storage capacity.
  • Consults on appropriate levels of automation with our technology and IT teams on individual projects.
  • Work closely with vendors on project requirements, equipment specifications, and more.
  • Performs time studies, ROI and cost analysis as needed.
  • Act as the project manager and have oversight of the mechanical efforts on specialized projects.
  • Works alongside deployment team on deployment strategies and projects.
  • Manage processes, project, and systems in an effort to achieve unit goals in accordance with company policies and industry best practices.
  • Introduce and adapt methodologies as appropriate to drive change.
  • Leverage data to drive continuous improvement across warehouses and internal networks as well as external clients.

"THE PERSON" | MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Package Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain preferred, or combination of education and experience equivalent.
  • 2 or more years of experience in distribution, manufacturing, custom packaging, or related business
  • Experience in multi-state industrial distribution, manufacturing, or processing environments
  • Advanced skill level in Excel
  • Experience working in complex data sets, utilizing data to cost justify capital expenditures and process change ROI.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% through the year
