What are Remote Porters?

Remote Porters are individuals who provide facilities management and support services for buildings or properties from a remote location. They may handle tasks such as coordinating cleaning schedules, managing security systems, monitoring building access, and responding to maintenance requests using technology and communication tools. This role is especially common in modern buildings equipped with smart systems, allowing porters to oversee operations without being physically present. Remote Porters help ensure that facilities run smoothly and efficiently, even when on-site staff is limited.

What is the difference between Remote Porter vs Remote Driver?

AspectRemote PorterRemote Driver
CredentialsBasic background check, sometimes a valid driver’s licenseValid driver’s license, clean driving record, possibly insurance verification
Work EnvironmentRemote coordination, scheduling, customer communicationRemote driving, route planning, delivery coordination
Industry UsageLogistics, moving services, delivery companiesCourier services, food delivery, package transportation
Search IntentJobs involving remote coordination of moving or deliveryRemote driving or delivery roles with coordination

Remote Porters typically handle coordination, scheduling, and customer communication remotely, often in moving or logistics industries. Remote Drivers focus on actual driving or delivery tasks but may also coordinate remotely. Both roles require some background checks and are used in similar industries, but their core responsibilities differ: one is more administrative, the other more operational.

What are the main challenges faced by a Remote Porter, and how can I prepare for them?

As a Remote Porter, one of the main challenges is maintaining clear communication and coordination with onsite staff while working offsite. Since your support tasks—such as managing deliveries, scheduling maintenance, and assisting residents virtually—require attention to detail and prompt responses, effective use of communication tools and proactive problem-solving are essential. You’ll also need to adapt quickly to shifting priorities and handle multiple requests simultaneously. Preparing by familiarizing yourself with property management software and developing strong organizational skills can help you excel in this role.

What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

A remote porter typically does not earn $10,000 a month without specialized skills or experience. High-paying jobs that can reach this level often involve sales, entrepreneurship, or specialized trades, but most require relevant skills, certifications, or a strong network rather than just a job title. Achieving such income usually involves a combination of experience, business acumen, or high-demand skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Porter, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Porter, you need basic facility management knowledge, strong organizational skills, and experience in custodial or support services, often supported by a high school diploma. Familiarity with scheduling software, communication tools, and facility monitoring systems is typically required. Dependability, attention to detail, and effective communication are standout soft skills for this position. These abilities ensure smooth operations, efficient coordination, and a safe, well-maintained environment in remote or distributed settings.

What jobs pay 2000 a day?

Jobs that can pay $2,000 a day typically include high-level roles such as specialized consultants, surgeons, or senior executives, often requiring advanced skills, certifications, or extensive experience. Freelance professionals like top-tier consultants or contractors in fields such as IT, finance, or engineering may also reach this earning level with significant expertise and client demand.

How can I make 2000 a week working from home?

A remote porter can potentially earn $2,000 a week by working multiple shifts, providing efficient and reliable service, and possibly earning tips or bonuses. Increasing earnings may involve gaining experience, improving skills, and working during peak hours or busy periods. Setting a consistent schedule and building a good reputation can also help maximize income in this role.

Job description

Client Intake Specialist

At Ellis Porter, our goal is to improve the immigration experience for employers and individuals so they can thrive in a smaller world. To do this, we've built a team of dedicated immigration professionals (we call ourselves Porters) who believe passionately in the economic and cultural benefits that immigration provides to America, and who excel at providing our clients with refreshingly clear guidance, uniquely creative strategies, and remarkably responsive service, all with genuine empathy and a personal touch.

Immigration law is very complex and full of constant challenges, but the Ellis Porter team loves what we do, and who we do it with, and we find great satisfaction in knowing that our work positively and intimately impacts our clients' lives and companies.

Our Culture:

We're also immensely proud of (and protective of) our culture at Ellis Porter. It's not what you would expect from a typical law firm, because we're not a typical law firm. We take our work seriously, but not ourselves. We don't tolerate drama, and jerks are not allowed. And we've built a wonderfully diverse team of Porters who reflect the diversity of the clients we serve.

As our team continues to grow, we've remained committed to cultivating an inspiring, authentic, comfortable, and flexible work environment where you are respected, encouraged to bring your whole self to work, and challenged to continue your professional growth in the legal immigration field.

Position Summary:

As a Client Intake Specialist, you are the first point of contact for our clients, guiding them through a clear, empathetic, and efficient intake process while accurately managing backend systems. This fast-paced, detail-oriented role is ideal for someone who enjoys client-facing work, thrives in a process-driven environment, and is comfortable with change and ambiguity as the role evolves with our firm's needs.

This position can be fully remote from any U.S. location, or based in either our Troy, MI or Ann Arbor, MI office as an in-person or hybrid role. Please note - although this role can be remote, all work must be performed within the United States.

What You'll Do:
  • Use workflows to manage the full intake process, including things like check-ins, case status updates, and required follow-ups with a high volume of clients each day
  • Monitor and respond to multiple shared inboxes, ensuring timely handling and routing of inquiries from prospective and existing clients
  • Conduct outbound calls with prospective clients to complete consultations and intake steps, answer questions, and move cases forward with same-day or next business-day follow-up
  • Record and regularly update all client information and feedback in HubSpot
  • Support multiple attorney teams by coordinating leads, managing calendars, tracking case assignments, and handling post-appointment follow-ups
  • Review client credentials (resumes, Google Scholar citations, highest degrees, etc.) to support case evaluation and eligibility decisions, ensuring attorneys have complete, well-organized information for consideration
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management
What Skills And Experience You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years of experience in a customer service, administrative, or other public-facing role emphasizing a high level of service
  • Proficiency in HubSpot, Microsoft Office, and/or other CRM systems highly preferred
  • Comfort using firm-approved AI and automation tools to support intake workflows
  • Strong organizational skills and a high level of attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in additional languages is valued but not required
  • Ability to work effectively both with a team and independently
  • Cultural sensitivity and passion for supporting immigrants and recognizing their valuable contributions to America's economy and culture
  • Experience working in remote or hybrid environments preferred
What We'll Provide To You:
  • An opportunity to do challenging and highly rewarding work at a fast-growing firm with an inspiring mission
  • An opportunity to join intelligent, creative, and dedicated immigration professionals who value respectful, collaborative working relationships
  • Inclusive firm culture celebrating diverse perspectives, backgrounds, identities, and experiences
  • People-centered workplace policies and flexible work schedules, including remote work opportunities
  • Competitive compensation, health/dental/vision/life insurance benefits, a 401(k)-retirement savings plan with employer-matching, and a generous paid-time-off policy
  • Casual attire and the opportunity to enjoy complimentary international cuisine in the office

Does this position, and our culture, seem like a good fit for you? If so, we would love to speak with you about joining the Ellis Porter team!
