Job Description RCS Staffing has an immediate need for a Project/Design Specialist - Electric Distribution in Madison, WI or Ames, IN. This is a full-time contract-to-hire Remote/Hybrid assignment with our client (with approximately 20% travel required). Overview of YOUR role as a Project/Design Specialist - Electric Distribution As a Project/Design Specialist - Electric Distribution, you will support and lead the technical execution of electric distribution projects while developing project management skills with a clear pathway to growing into a Project Manager role. You will coordinate electric distribution design work, lead quality control reviews, and work closely with experienced Project Managers who will mentor your professional growth. This is a high-impact growth role on an expanding team, offering increasing responsibility and visibility.

As a Project/Design Specialist - Electric Distribution YOU will: Coordinate and perform electric distribution design work for overhead, underground, system upgrades, and modernization projects Lead quality control reviews for pre- and post-construction design packages Prepare and review technical analyses, design documents, and deliverables for accuracy and compliance Review vendor drawings and participate in project reviews Support permitting and coordination with municipalities, utilities, and stakeholders Assist with construction support and resolve design-related issues during build Partner with Project Managers to support scope, schedule, budget, and quality tracking Communicate risks, constraints, and schedule impacts to stakeholders Participate in client meetings, technical discussions, and coordination calls Assist with proposal development, technical estimates, and fee structure understanding Support forecasting, workload planning, and progress tracking across multiple projects Contribute ideas for process improvements and efficiency gains Support a collaborative, growth-oriented team culture YOU are the ideal Project/Design Specialist - Electric Distribution candidate if you have: Experience supporting electric distribution systems, including overhead and/or underground design (required) Strong technical foundations and attention to detail (required) Experience in a consulting, utility, or infrastructure-focused environment Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, designers, and project stakeholders Interest in project management, leadership, and client interaction (required) Comfort working on multiple tasks or projects in a deadline-driven environment Desire to grow beyond design into broader delivery or leadership roles Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Ability to work in a remote/hybrid environment with occasional travel (20%) It's a BONUS if you have: Bachelor's or Associate's degree in engineering, design, or technical field Exposure to utility clients or investor-owned utilities (IOUs) Familiarity with distribution design workflows, permitting, and construction support Experience with schedules, estimates, or project tracking tools Previous project coordination or assistant PM experience Knowledge of electric distribution standards and best practices Experience with technical documentation and CAD About Our CLIENT Our Client is a national engineering and consulting firm with over 3,100 professionals dedicated to delivering innovative, sustainable solutions for utilities, infrastructure, and industrial clients.
